Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a bright yellow color with a 1 inch head. Smell is very funky, some melons. Taste is of spices, yeast, light melons and hops are present, dry at the finish. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

Oh, man, their eastern neighbors get all the beer love, but I totally dig what is coming to me in CANs from the Granite State. Yeah, yinz CAN go chase all of the Lawson's & Hill Farmstead that you want, but I'm digging some NH goodness! Baby, I'm on a New CANned Henniker Beer Sunday (Week 733) kick today. No music for this one as I have the BOS/PGH hockey game on & NOTHING trumps hockey!

From the CAN: "Life on a farm centuries ago possessed few luxuries outside of a warm fire and a tankard of house-brewed ale. It was brewed for a basic purpose—to refresh, sustain and comfort a hard-working body and mind. Rustique was brewed combining those basic farmhouse ale principles with all the benefits of new school brewing. A clean, refreshing style, mixed with Vic Secret, Huell Melon, Mandarina Bavaria hops and our house yeast strain. Sit back, relax, and enjoy!"

I did some in-CAN agitation before Crack!ing the vent open. I just think that if a beer is meant to have an inherent haze, then it is a disservice to treat it otherwise. My wide-open Glug ended up in the formation of just over a finger of dense, foamy, rocky, French Vanilla-colored head with great retention. Color was a deeply-hazy/lightly-cloudy Straw-Yellow (SRM = > 2, < 4). Nose smelled more like melon than funk & I was SO happy as a result! I know that the style is supposed to be funky, but I just CAN't dig it. This was a wonderful blend of its hops as well as its yeast! Yum. Mouthfeel was medium. Taste was about in line with its nose - very much of Huell Melon, but with a funkiness that was measurable & discernible without being overpowering. I liked it just fine, but Saison aficionados might take exception. Finish was dry, but not overwhelming. Some Saisons rival white wines, but not this one. Yum!

I think that this beer is underrated by reviewers.

Look: light cloudy golden color with a 4F head in a Mikasa tulip.

Nice aroma: citrus, melon, spice.

Taste is not as prominent as the aroma: melon, citrus and spice.

MF: lighter body, not too carbonated ( an issue with a lot of Saisons. a moderate spicy finish.

Overall: one of the better Saisons I have tasted in a while.

Poured into a tulip, the appearance was a cloudy pale yellow color with a finger's worth of white foamy head that slid off at a moderate pace. Some lace ran here and there in a messy sort of way.
The aroma had a nice blend of citrus to herbal with a light Belgian bready contour flowing into some bubblegum and white pepper qualities.
The flavor was moderately sweet through the prior mentioned aromas and sliding on into the aftertaste all together.
The mouthfeel was between light and medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt good. ABV felt as projected by the brewer. Mild sweet bready finish.
Overall, pretty nice saison by Henniker I'd drink again.

16oz tallboy, sample from the brewery.

Pours a dull golden hued brew with ample head and lacing eventually left on the glass. Citrusy nose, zest and herbal tones from the hops ... some mild gummy and exotic fruit undertones as well. Big on crispness, smooth with a nice bite. A good amount of hop bitterness, dry grain, and nutty yeast on play on the dry side while the citrus hop flavor brings a bright pop to this brew. Very enjoyable with a balance throughout.

Can from Bert's
Cloudy lemony yellow with a huge frothy white head that persists. Lemony earthy resinous hoppy nose with some earthy rustic spicy malt and yeast character. Pretty tasty hoppy rustic ale.

Look: a hazy pale yellow color that looks like a summer Shandy almost. Pours with a thin head that quickly disappears
Smell:up front smell is that of lemon dish soap with a subtle smell of ripe melon
Taste: bitter citrus with a bit of a bite. Touch of pineapple rind as well
Feel:decent amount of carbonation that leaves a pillowly feel on the tounge
Overall: this a very nice spring time beer. It's a change from all of the heavy winter beers. It is quite light and refreshing

Poured from a 16oz can

It is a cloudy gold with an average sized bright white head that has decent retention.

It smells like biting yeast/brets, sharp light colored fruits, and some wheat grain.

There is a very spicy hop profile, but not a lot of hop flavor per say. There is a strong amount of bret and cloves. Very yeasty/funky. Also some pineapple, banana, and wheat. Honestly, it is like a hoppy Hefe with a lot of Belgian yeast.

Very tasty and enjoyable beer.

16oz undated can from the Case 'N Keg, $3.19 single.

Pours cloudy gold with a fluffy head of white that settles to a skim coat with minor lacing. Aromatics lead off with barnyard funk and brett. Pineapple skins in a horse stall with grass clippings and cloves. Light bodied with a soft and pillowy mouthfeel, A wheaty twang starts the palate with hints of pear, wet hay, and pithy citrus. Finishes dry with plenty of earthy, fecal-like funk and lingering brett.

An interesting beer but a bit heavy with the foul-like funk.

From the 16 oz. can with a best by date of 06-10-17. Sampled on March 25, 2017.

It pours an unfiltered, foggy pale yellow with a modest white head that fades to a ring. Perhaps some sediment.

The aroma is an array of overripe fruits, melon, spice, sour dough bread, and wild yeast.

The body is about medium but it is also rather smooth and soft.

The taste begins with a bready malt note that is immediately overtaken by the sour, melon, and tart like characters that bring it to a mildly dry finish.

From a 16oz can, 'best by 05/07/17.' I watched it being taken off the truck so, if that's a three month window, I don't know where it's been for the past month and a half. I mean, I'm only forty minutes from the brewery. Pffft. Anyway... Served in a nonic.

Pours a hazy, cheery lemonade-yellow with a scant half-finger of soft, white head. A meager little ring around the glass, a little thin lacing, really not much more to say about it.

I'll have to look up the yeast later because I smell brett but it also smells like an English bitter. Very tame, but nice at that. Grassy and herbal with some lemon dishsoap.

Taste is a melange of tart saison, sweet malt syrup, and bitter, citrus-fruity hops but a little too thin to really engage my enthusiasm. Honeydew melon, banana, corn syrup, lemonade. Grassy flirting with weedy-vegetal.

Feel is creamy-slick, a little syrupy, medium-thin, and decently carbonated.

Overall, well, I drank it and I enjoyed it. Sometimes that's good enough.

Honored to be the first review for this Hoppy Farmhouse Ale.

Full pint can. 4 pack purchased from the brewery tap room 3/18/17.

Took a small tour of the brewey and had a flight of everything offered at that point. Rustique, a Hoppy Farmhouse ale was the one big highlight for me.

This ale was brewed with the classic foundation of. Saison with a bigger hop profile. I was told directly by the brewery owner that this brew has three Belgian yeast strains and their own house yeast. Vic secret, Huell Melon, Mandarina and Bavaria hops! That's a big hop combo at 25 IBU.

A hazy, yellow-gold color and light but solid white cap.

The nose is very earthy and complex. Sour golden wheat, corn, light golden biscuit malt, tart lemmon and light citrus fruits. Very Funky, earthy and sour tinged yeast aroma. The yeast and malt aroma's blend perfectly with the earthy-sweet, fruity and tangy hops.

Big sour notes, almost "wild ale" open fermented, style yeast flavor's hit first. Tangy citrus, lemmon, melons and various light tropical fruits pop out from the unique hop combo. The hops also seem to provide excellent herbal and earthy tones. The malt seems like a light golden ale malt with wheat and sweet corn. The yeadt baseflavor's have excellent complexity and the hops just bring this rather traditional feeling Saison to another level. The yeast combo is pretty deep, not on par with the top Belgian versions, but excellent for an American Belgian-style. An intersting light banana, clove, mansarin orange and lemmon zest thing happens from the combo of yeast and various hops. The hops are off the charts unique and really blend with the dominant yeast and earthy flavor's perfectly.

The feel is grainy, light, very crisp but also has a medium malt presence. Full of flavor, never really dry but more clean and juicy. I like a dry finish to the stule but this is more of a malty finish, which makes it practically medium bodied and not light. The first hit is vety crisp but it mellows slightly later.

Rooted in tradition and making it unique with the wild hop array makes this my favorite brew offered by Henniker so far.
