Brewed by:
Henniker Brewing Co.
New Hampshire, United States

Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
An India Pale Ale - gets its golden copper color from the light caramel malts, which provide a solid backbone to the support all the great hops. This beer presents with an overwhelming citrus aroma that leads into an unmistakable flavor of grapefruit. Hop Slinger leaves you with a nice dry bitterness that pairs well with spicy curries, salty fried foods and ginger based desserts.

Pours a clear, golden-orange color with a decent white head that leaves almost no lacing. The head is gone fairly quickly.

The aroma is far too subtle, with very mild notes of citrus and pine. Hardly any malt to be detected.

The taste is floral and extremely bitter. Not very balanced. Just a bitter, chalky flavor.

The feel is medium bodied with ridiculously high carbonation. Not sure if it was just the bottle I had but it burned my throat with every sip. A bit sticky and resin-y on the back end. Not very pleasant.

Overall, not impressed with this one. It's far too bitter and doesn't offer a whole lot else. Not something I'd pick up again.

Found this in the back of a general store in North Conway NH. Never heard of Henniker Brewing or Henniker NH before but according to their website that's pretty common and the way they like it.

Dark orangey gold color with a slushy, thick head. Very sticky.

Smells like grapefruit and caramel. Sharp pine when I opened the bottle softens in my glass.

Tastes like grapefruit and plenty of sweet caramel malt. Big bitter isn't enough to combat the overpowering caramel malts.

Eh. Makes me think of a bigger SA Lattitude 48.

This is a good, solid IPA. Pours a nice cloudy orange but very little foam due to the lower than expected carbonation. Smell is average, hints of grapefruit and pine. Taste is the highest attribute. If only it had more carbonation, feel rating would have been higher and edged up my rating. Still, a decent IPA.

Neat new brewery I recently found a bunch of beers for. They were cheap enough to give most of them a try. There is a strange date like code on here, it says 07.717, so not sure what that code means.

Pours a decent quickly rising 1.5 finger fizzy head that fades back fairly quickly, spots of soapy lacing, crystal clear filtered looking honey golden orange color.

Nose brings mild everything, some light dank fruits, not really citrus, a grape like thing, little generic stone fruit perhaps, hard to really nail down the hops, and some crystal malts, little caramel sweet note, bit malty. Nothing special going on fairly bland.

Taste brings more of the same blandness, a little grassy floral hop note, faint generic fruit, maybe a touch of stone fruit, light overall bitterness, with mostly grassy hops. Malts are in the background, a little crystal malty like flavor, grainy malt note, mild sweetness, and a touch of a yeasty flavor in there despite the lack of yeast in the bottle. Finish is drier but sticky somehow, feels like a hint of booze coming through but it's only 6.5%, a little more grassy slight spicy like hop note.

Mouth is med to fuller bod, bit fuller than I expected, but also over carbonated a bit.

Overall meh, not a very well executed IPA, plenty of flaws, nothing horribly wrong, but nothing really going on with this one either.

Beer pours as amber with no transparency. Small head. Fruity nose. Mouthfeel is pleasent with a somewhat chalky feel. Taste initially is hop bonb but resolves into a resiny, very bitter finish, with a butttered popcorn after taste. To bad, as a bit more balance would make for a really nice beer.

Thanks to smanson56 for this one from the LIF box. 12oz can poured into 10oz goblet. Printed on bottom of can "This what it sounds like when hops cry", best by date of Sept 22-16. Poured a cloudy orange-yellow color with 1/4 inch of just off-white head with good retention and low lacing.

The aroma had a very low malt presence, with some bright hops on top. Across the palate, the grains showed up a bit better, and citrus, pine, and light floral hops popped up.

The body was a fairly typical medium. Drinkability was good, smooth with a dry finish. Overall, a solid brew, pretty typical for the style. Certainly worth trying if you come across it.

Pours a five finger khaki head that fades very slowly leaving a good lace. Almost clear amber color. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Light pine hop nose, flavor is a pine hops with some caramel. Light lingering bitter aftertaste. $6.99 for a 22oz bottle from Market Basket Concord. NH.
