Poured from corked and caged bottle dated March 27, 2013. Purchased at the Brewery in Ontario on 5/29/13. Nifty lookin bottles...$12 CAD
Huge pop! Pours a burnt orange color with lots of carbonation and white head. It looks a little to dark in color for the style...
Nice aromas of peppery spice, orange zest, bready malts and a bit of noble hop.
Taste is a bit over-bready, but good spicy notes of black pepper and orange. Hops are a bit over bearing and make this a bot too bitter...but a decent Saison. Not amazing...
I expected a bit more from this literal farmhouse in the middle of Niagara Wine country.

Purchased at the LCBO with an aging date of March 2013. 750ml caged bottle served at 8deg C in a tulip glass.

A- Excellent carbonation. Opened with a hearty pop, poured with a 1.5" head that stayed for almost 5mins. Slightly cloudy off yellow colour.

S- Citrus overtones.

T- Citrus shines through right away. After warming slight sourness builds to a tart finish. Light on the palate surprisingly. Yeasty

M- Pretty good. Nice, light, full body with a touch of creaminess.

O- Not bad, will not go out of my way to get another however if I saw it on tap would definitely try it again. Interesting beer from Niagara on the Lake. New breweries are popping up all over Ontario these days and the future looks bright for some interesting finds.

Food Pairing

This wonderful yeasty brew went well with.... BBQ hamburgers! Top 'em how you like 'em!

Enjoy

To me, the authority on this style (of the beers that I have tried) is Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale, by Boulevard Brewing Co. Comparing this to that, leaves gaps.
This one's nose already indicates that something is off, giving more of a champagne aroma, as opposed to a citrus-herb-hop-yeast combo one would be looking for. Then there is the fizzy head and body, along with the weak, watery taste.
This is an attempt, nothing else. It's drinkable, although the fizz makes it uncomfortable, A true saison should caress your throat as it glides down, not burn it.
Would probably not buy it (I received this one as a gift), but would consume if offered.

The Rhino winterfest. A bit funky. Not very drinkable for me today although smooth mouthfeel. Just off-putting spices and yeast that was too up front. Lasting head. This is his best effort so far, I would like to try the biere de garde which I would expect to be more understated.
