22oz bomber poured into a tulip.
Pours pitch black with a medium-sized tan head that shows very good staying power and solid lacing.
The aroma is all about the dark, sweet malts with tons of bakers chocolate and some roasted coffee. Not crazy complex but an excellent nose for this style.
The taste wasn't quite as solid as the nose and there is an overarching burnt malt bitterness that gets a little distracting. If you can get past the burnt character, there is semisweet chocolate and some spent espresso grounds, which just accentuates the bitterness, especially in the finish.
The mouthfeel is silky smooth and extremely dry and bitter with the roasted malts clinging to the palate.
This is a very good export stout that I think would be great if the bitterness was ramped down a touch. I do like the big sweet chocolate aroma as it's a bit different for a dry stout. Overall, very tasty.

March 31st, 2015 - Last on the list here at Oggi's is the Black Magic Stout. Predictably dark, the nose has some heavy charcoal and a little teriyaki but the smell is mild and mild mannered. The flavor is rich with soy and teriyaki, and a little jerky spice, but the body is just a touch thin. I lean back and feel that the beer is "okay" which is better than some of the brews from today's tasters, and worse than others.
