Our Flagship. An easy drinking, accessible Vienna Lager with a balance between the rich malt character and refreshing hop presence. Copper in color this beer is made from American Bittering and Noble Aroma Hops. Not too sweet and not too bitter, a beer you can enjoy anytime.

The main problem with this brew is Yonkers is too young (pushing 13 years old) to know what Vienna knows in three centuries of being a center of civilization. (True, Yonkers is an inner suburb of NYC; but how prominent are its southern German-speaking immigrants?) My point said in beer terms, a good Vienna is a malt-head's delight and Yonkers' Vienna merely gets a passing grade... perhaps because Yonkers is on the horn of a dilemma: the American palate prefers hops and Viennas are about the malts.
Yonkers' Vienna none-the-less is their flagship and keeps Yonkers in beer's culture. My question is this: why does New York State's 3rd largest city not have more micros?
In the meantime, I get this courtesy of Beer Drop. Yonkers Vienna Looks pretty good in my BA Respect Beer glass.... so I think I'll drink it. Smells mostly of malt, minor floral hops detected. Tastes are well-balanced with some hops lingering in the finish, ut not even semi-dry. Medium-mouthed. Went fine to wash down lunch.
But to all you Yankee fans, know that Yonkers Vienna is no Boston lager.
3/13/23 Drank the second can from Beer Drop. Again, a good lunch beer. So that caused me to venture on to their website and read their food menu. It pushes beyond bar food and has some thoughtful dishes. Yonkers brewpub also acts as a mini-Yonkers historical society with lots of photos and storied captions. Interestingly, Kawasaki rail cars have been made there for 35 years. For all that, I give Yonkers (the micro) pretty good Overall Hugs.

Served on tap into nonic pint glass at The Piper’s Kilt in Eastchester, NY.
A: Pours a clear amber color with golden highlights, a one finger, wheat colored head displaying good retention and strong, complex rings of lacing.
S: Floral bouquet with scents of rose and honeysuckle with definite caramel and toasty notes.
T: Semidry with flavors of caramel, toffee, and a clear lemon citrus note. Bitterness light but nicely in balance.
M: Light bodied with solid carbonation. Very crisp finish and refreshing.
O: This is really a nicely designed Vienna Lager. Very, very drinkable a thirst quenching. I will look for it locally going forward.

Poured into glass from can. Light red with decent foam. Aroma of malt sweetness dominates. Medium-full body. Caramel malt sweetness very prominent with just enough hops for balance. One of my favorite examples of the style, fuller bodied and fuller flavor than the Mexican versions.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a Will Becher glass. Bottled 26 May 2016. (OK, whoa, didn't realize this was a year old. Freaking NYC.)

A: Clear, effervescent chestnut beer with two fingers of voluminous head. Heavy lacing.
S: Smells crispy metallic with a hint of pumpernickel bread.
T/M: Hm. A touch sour on the foretaste before a more much pleasantly malty maintaste takes over. The mouthfeel is light, a touch bubbly, with an unsticky sweet finish.
F: A solid, above-average beer that is unassuming and pretty middle of the road. Not quite what I was looking for, but I'd enjoy revisiting a fresher bottle.

Pure amber color with a finger of off white foam and excellent lacing throughout. Rich bready aroma with a touch of dried fruit. The taste starts off with a bit of caramel sweetness and toasted malt, moving into a slight cherry and raisin sweetness. Clean and rich mouthfeel.
