Crappy little convenience store that has the odd good thing. Gouging douchebags though. Marked up BCBS variants by more than double retail in 2015.

The selection isn't huge, but it's a great place to find hard to find stuff - high end goose island, hopslam, three floyds, and especially pipeworks. HOWEVER, they price gouge bcbs like crazy. I actually approached the manager, who said that it sells out even at those prices and it helps finance their ability to carry other high end beers. He also offered me a better price. Other than that, prices are very reasonable, typically within 50 cents of elsewhere.

As an NU student I've frequented D&D's more than you could imagine. Over the past four years I've really seen the beer selection grow. Essentially, it seems like the manager is doing everything that he can to bring in great beer. Their prices are always super for booze, but mediocre for everything else. It is in fact mainly a grocery store.
In terms of beer selection, the entire back wall is all beer. Tons of local six packs including great lakes, FFF, all of the national stuff, half acre, and a ton of bombers from pipeworks. In the fall when goose island comes out with their bourbon stuff its also there - always about a dollar below most other places.
They abide by the Evanston law stating that you have to buy more than one 22oz bottle - which... is a great excuse to buy more beer.
I think these guys are seriously overlooked.

This place is only a block from my apartment, but I never really went in there much. Towards the end of 2012, they REALLY expanded their beer selection. They have a row of coolers in the back that used to be a mix of standard beer offerings and wine, but they slowly started bringing in some more craft.
I spoke a few times with the beer manager, and he seemed extremely open to suggestions. I usually take these offers with a grain of salt, but I mentioned a few breweries I would love to have access to, such as Pipeworks. That was probably two weeks ago or so, and I went in to the store yesterday and they had an entire row of 6 Pipeworks beers, including two extremely fresh batches. Same deal with Central Waters. Awesome, awesome service. Great selection, and I only see it getting better. Very reasonable prices. I see myself stopping in at least once a week from now on.
