Shared a bottle of the Fortification with co-workers at the brewery. It poured a murky brown with white head that did not leave much lace. The scent and taste were powered by bourbon. The Mouthfeel was fuller in body with good carbonation. Overall it's a solid Barley wine and certainly worth a try.

Pours a murky brown in color with a 3 finger off white head that recedes leaving thick, sticky lacing.

Aroma of caramel and whiskey. Fruity, reminiscent of grapes. Peppery.

Again, caramel, with dark fruits. A bit winey, like a port or a sherry.

Rather full bodied. Syrupy, but becoming predominantly drying in the end.

A great beer Fruity and rich with great body, aroma and taste.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a dark brown color and a thick, cloudy consistency. There was a 3/4", creamy, off white, somewhat long-lasting head. Very good lacing.

S: A solid aroma of hops, malt, caramel, toffee, and dark fruit.

T: Tasted of a good shot of malt (present throughout), lots of caramel, some toffee (not as much as the caramel), a ton of hops, some dark fruit (figs, plums), and light vanilla notes. An interesting flavor that was much hoppier than I thought it would be. It gives you a blast of hops up front and lot of the sweet, fruity stuff in the finish. Pretty tasty.

F: A well-carbonated beer beer with a sharp finish. Medium-bodied.

O: A focused, well done beer. Worth a try.

The body is a murky maroon with a thin ring of light tan, almost white head. This beer really brings the aroma, whiskey, followed by vanilla and dark fruit and caramel sweetness. The taste is a little less impressive than the aroma, but it is a nice blending of the aromas distinct qualities. The body's weight is good but it's a little thinner than I was expecting for a year in a barrel.

Poured a copper body with frothy head and lace that sticks around on the glass. Caramel, toffee, coconut, booze and wood strike me in the aroma. Woody smoothness in a medium-thick bodied beer with caramel, toffee, figs and dark fruits like plum or raisin balance sweetness and flavors with a heat finish from the booze and a sturdy malt base for a slow sipping, enjoyable beer.

A: This poured an opaque mahogany with thick light tan head.
S: It smelled like toasted coconut and nougat and almonds, with some sweet figs and wild honey and biscuit and toffee.
T: It tasted like sticky nougat and nutty toffee and toasted oak, with some sweet figs and wild honey and biscuit. It had a clean and sweet aftertaste with some alcohol warming.
M: It was thick with moderate carbonation. Great big body.
D: This was a delicious brew with complex and well balanced scent and taste. The body was great, but the finish was hot so it was better to sip. Age would probably help mellow, but it was still solid fresh. Recommended.
