From notes.

4oz sample poured at the brewery.

Poured a reddish, dark amber color, with a white foam head that left spotty lace.

The aroma seemed to me to be not much different than RR's regular Saison. It was chiefly made up of spicy notes from the Belgian yeast strain. There was a malty aroma that seemed a wee bit stronger.

Like the regular saison that I tried first, RR's Imperial version was very drinkable, with spicy yeast notes making up much of the flavor, but there was a slightly boozy taste in the background that might well have shone up stronger if I'd had a larger glass; certainly it's something to explore on a future visit! The hops were well-balanced, with a slightly grassy taste to them.

The mouthfeel was spot -on, as, indeed, it was with all of RR's beers. Light, with a slightly effervescent touch.

It's hard to review a style like a Saison - imperial or otherwise - from a small sample, and I may well be revising this in the future. Having said that, this is a dangerously drinkable beer, with little sign of the high alcohol content besides a slightly boozy flavor that might not have stood out to me at all if I hadn't had RR's regular saison right before I drank a sample of this. But I can say with no reservations that it was good.
