A: no head but some scattered lace on a jet black body.

S: very full aroma with dark chocolate, roasted malts, coffee beans and a hint of vanilla.

T: a lot of coffee and roasted malt throughout. Very subtle chocolate sweetness but not getting the vanilla that is present in the aroma.

M: full body and moderate to high carbonation. Sense of dryness in the finish likely accentuated by the bitterness.

Overall: if you like beer and coffee this one is excellent. Very full flavored. More bitter than sweet. Would like it a little less carbonated.

On tap at the brewery.

Pours near black with ruby edges. Rather weak head but decent lacing.
Full, smooth body with well set carbonation.

As claimed, this has "hearty doses" of dark roasted grains with some light, spicy hops. Medium light bitterness.
Long lasting, roasty aftertaste.

O: very well done stout.

Appealing look and chocolate colored lacing that holds for minutes.
Roasty aroma and taste. Smooth on the mouth and palate. No wow factor... but I could drink three in a row and call it a fine evening.

A big ol' glass of dark brown deliciousness. Decent dark tan head sits atop. Good lace left behind.
Smell is malt, molasses, nuts, dark chocolate. Balance is very good.
Taste is exactly what you'd expect from what the nose presented, malt, dark chocolate, light molasses, light coffee, nut notes.
Body is between medium and full. Effervescence is restrained but not light. Hides the 7.3 % ABV quite well.

Appearance - Cloudy deep brown body. Minimal khaki head that recedes to nothing. Spotty lacing.

Aroma - Bitter dark chocolate, roasty malts.

Taste - Similar to nose, with a hint of vanilla bean in the middle.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, medium carbonation, drying and a bit silky.

Overall - Great interpretation of the style. Would like more vanilla presence.
