On tap at the Friendly Spot in San Antonio. Pours an attractive golden, orangey amber in the pint shaker. Decent head and plenty of carbonation. Flowery aroma. Biscuits and bitterness are the main flavors.

The rye adds that nice grainy, resiny, scratchy taste that plays well with the hops. The hops are Cascade, Amarillo Gold, and Nugget, and the brewery rates this at 65 IBUs. This should be bitter enough for the hard-bitten IPA freak, but it's thoroughly quaffable. Enough mellow malt to balance the more aggressive hoppiness, and the bitterness is balanced by the flavorful richness. I think some West Coasters should stop bragging about their gut-bomb IPAs and note how much tastier they can be with a little restraint.
