Poured into my brand new North Brewery fluted snifter (globe glass?)
Golden yellow, clear, with rising carbonation feeding a modest white head (even after a day or so of growler abuse in a car).
Smells awesome...I know this has Mosaic, Nelson Sauvin, and Simcoe, and they're all in there in full force. White grape, mango, passionfruit, pineapple, tangerine, pine...best-smelling IPA from North so far, hands-down.
Taste is a diluted version of the smell; there seems to be a hole in the middle of it however. Starts off clean and wet, then moves through a void into some ghostly tropical flavors with a nice bite of citrus rind and pine at the end. The Simcoe hops are the strongest in the flavor; I'd like to see more from the other two, but it's still tasty. Finishes bitter but clean.
Mouthfeel is thin and wet, not exactly crisp but nowhere near sticky.
Overall, I'd like more flavor out of the fruit-forward hops, but this is still the best IPA I've had from the North. Very excited for the next one!
