Growler poured into tulip glass.

A: Pours a cloudy amber with a white head, decent retention and lacing.

S: Coffee and floral hop scents.

T: Strong bitter taste. Resinous hop flavors and the coffee flavors mingle well, and its hard to discern which is which. Could be a bit more balanced

M: Fair amount of carbonation(especially for a growler). Medium bodied and very bitter aftertaste. Alcohol is well hidden.

O: This is a decent brew and unique. I wish I had it a bit more fresh(as well as on tap vs growler) as I feel it would be more complex and enjoyable.

Poured into a teku pint. No freshness date.

A- Pours a medium amber color with a 1/2 inch off-white head that retains well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a mostly full sheet of surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves small clots behind.

S- Sweet iced coffee aroma mingles well with the mild hop presence. Also some milk chocolate and caramel.

T- Lots of sweet coffee at first, then the piney hop taste kicks in but is restrained and leads to a bitter finish that fuses with the coffees bitterness for a lovely synthesis of flavor. The afterbite is where the main pleasure is as it keeps me wanting to go back for more sips.

T- Sharp from the hops with medium carbonation and a body leaning toward the lighter side.

O- This is even better than the first time it came out. Not quite as amazing as Stone's Dayman but a more than acceptable substitute for the time being.

This is a crystal clear, brownish orange with a white head. There is a bit of lacing on the side of the glass. The aroma is floral hops and fresh roasted coffee. The taste is sweet and malty up front with iced coffee coming right behind. It finishes with bitter coffee and hops. Pretty nice coffee IPA.

Haters gonna hate but if you like a good IPA and good coffee this is a great choice. I also love the creativity and the work that they do with Fonta Flora in Morganton. AMB is always a great place to stop and have a drink when around near Boone.

Appearance: A nice bubble show and then the clear amber liquid appears; two inches of foam cap it off, leaving a fair amount of lacing action behind

Smell: The coffee and the hops intermingle in the aromatics, with the hops adding a sweetening impact; there are hints of milk chocolate and caramel, too

Taste: Layers of flavor here, with citrus and pine forward; the coffee, milk chocolate and caramel tones come and go through the middle, with sweetness and bitterness moving back and forth; the finish has a nice bitter kick at the back of the tongue

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Really enjoying the creativity here; I have tasted a few coffee IPAs and have enjoyed the style but this one is particularly interesting
