This IPA is unfiltered and loaded with hops with an IBU of 75! The color is a nice hazy golden amber and an aroma that hits you like a brick. "An Anglo-American-style IPA, with a carefully blended floral and citrus aroma. A mouthful of hop flavor is complimented by a malty backbone, leaving you with a subdued lingering bitterness."

Nice beer from little old Boone NC! Happy to see a brewery just up the road a ways is making some good beer and canning it no less!

Appearance: Conventional IPA, some amber gold coloration more light than dark, fairly clear not much haze decent amount of head. Pretty much textbook for an IPA.

Aroma: Nice floral and fruitiness, not very resinous but solid in the nose. The malts balance it out fairly well and give it a clean nose.

Taste: This is a nicely balanced IPA, very good flavor and could be sessioned I believe. It has some bitterness that hits the front of the tongue but otherwise its pretty clean. Nice floral and some tropical notes, its does not have a piney resinous flavor that I was expecting from a beer called Long Leaf, named after the Pine. But I understand the nomenclature as well being from NC.

Overall: Its a good beer, the price point is spot on and it comes in tallboy cans! Can't go wrong there! I am looking forward to seeing what else this brewery produces. Not bad so far!

Poured from a 16oz can into a New belgium egg snifter.

Look: Pours a tangerine orange color with a good rise of head that takes a minute or two to deflate. Doesn't die down all the way, leaves about an 8th of an inch of foam and some clumps of big bubbles still trying to hang on. Head is just off white in color and lacey lace sticks to the glass where the head has retreated. The actual shade of the beer is very pleasing.

Smell: Smells of orange and tangerine first , after comes hints of pine and some notes of toffee and a little caramel sweetness. Overall sweetness of the aroma would make one think this is a fairly tame beer bitterness wise. Doesn't seem to allude to a tongue lashing soon. Very pleasing profile with a slight floral note at the end after a few good whiffs.

Taste: The taste is an abrupt plot twist from the aroma. At first I was thinking this would be a balanced easy drinking IPA , however after the first sip all bets are off. Sharp grapefruit bitterness and a large helping of sticky pine resin start things in motion. After comes a slight floral and woodsy character that fades into a touch of caramel sweetness, this doesn't last long though and soon a touch of mineral dryness takes over until the bitter dry finish seals the deal. The finish is long and bitter and leaves an after taste of white grapefruit. Although for sure an unbalanced IPA it is not to a fault. The hop character is well structured and not over the top.

Feel: Carbonation is a touch high being just a little fizzy , this aids in the perception of hop character but this jumps out at the beers only really minor flaw. Nothing to stop me from enjoying it by any means.

Overall: Honestly with Columbus , Warrior , Chinook, and Centennial hops in play with good proportions and a decent malt background you would think it would be hard to not make a good IPA. But lots of brewers use excellent ingredients and don't make amazing beer. This however is not one of those. This is a well put together , delicious and drinkable IPA. It has west coast style but still remains unique. An extremely good offering worth seeking out anywhere in North Carolina.

This beer does have to potential to be amazing, I hope to try it again in the future.

Enjoying on this cold day in Black Mountain, NC. Poured from a bomber sample from brewery into a snifter here at home. About an inch of head after the initial pour, disappears after a minute or two. Nice lacing. Initial nose of fresh lemon peel and orange. Medium bitterness at the end, large notes of pine (I think all this has been said before). Very crisp and bright. A beautiful golden orange hue. These guys are doing some big things. Just got the porter on tap where I work, and it's quality as well. Hopefully I can bring this one on soon too. Well done.

Pours into an imperial pint glass a clear rich medium golden with a sticky half finger white head that settles very slowly.Grassy and leafy hops with a tinge of citrus,a dryer bready malt base is detected as well.Dry and quite crisp on the palate with a aspirin-like hop profile along with some herbal and grassy notes, again a bready malt base. Not bad though a little sharp in it's aspirin flavor,I like the dryness and crispness of the beer.

Tall can, Jun 15 17...just a few days in the can...yeah fresh

Pours hazed almond, under a lasting frothy cap, leaving thicker ringed lacing

Herbal and topical fruit nose

Tasty and fresh tasting IPA, some tropical notes and some resiny notes...worth a try

Copper colored with an inch of creamy beige on top. Moderate lacing. The aroma is of floral and piney hops. I'm tasting floral and earthy hops along with some light malt. The mouth is faintly sticky and chewy with a light chalkiness.

16 oz. can. Hazy deep orange. Smells of caramel malt and floral hops. A tinge of resin. Tastes of floral hops, bready malts, moderate caramel sweetness. Again, has a tinge of resiny hops in the back end. Medium body. I get the English idea, but it pushes caramel sweetness where I'd like it to be drier.
