Very Good
Notes: Good Morning, Beautiful! For our third release with Deftones, we’ve dreamed up a brown ale with notes of coconut, coffee and maple. The perfect beer to warm up with while there’s a chill in the air. Read this label aloud each day, because beer is beautiful and so are you. Grab a pint, put on your headphones and drink away.

22 oz bottle sent from Donald. Poured into Soaring Wings wine glass.

Deep brown chocolate color with a frothy head of off-white, 1 finger tall, receding to 1/2 finger.

Lots of great aromas of hazelnut, coffee, cream, nutty malts, and slight milk chocolate.

Flavor is coffee first, followed by hazelnut, vanilla creamer, coconut, cocoa, and finishing on hints of maple syrup and nutty malts.

Feel is kind of watery at first, but then it begins to form a body in the mouth that's around medium weight and sort of creamy. Nice carbonation level, maybe a touch too high but not by much. Roasty finish. Light starches.

Overall a very enjoyable, delicious brown ale. Would definitely have/trade for again.

The beer pours out a dark brown color with a tinge of haze and almost no head at all------------- the aromas are of coffee, light coconut and light maple syrup(it smells lime a liquid almond joy)---------------- the flavors follow the nose with coffee, coconut and maple syrup, the beer has a thin mouthfeel with no bitterness at all---------------- overall this beer was exceptional - this was a tasty brown ale one of the best I have had and for being a little on the older side it held up really well-------

Light shines through this beer which is reddish brown with a fluffy tan head. Nothing really left behind on the glass. The aroma is filled with coconut, coffee, maple syrup, vanilla and roasty malt. Lightly sweet with a lot of coffee, coconut and maple syrup up front. Finishes a coffee bitterness. Pretty great brown ale with the taste of breakfast.

Poured a 22 oz bottle into a chilled glass mug. Very dark brown colour lets very little light through the glass. Very thin beige head which quickly dissipates as well does as the lacing. What struck me was how watery this looked, I usually expect ABA to look heavy. The aroma smelled of mild malt, chocalate with a little coffe and maple. The taste sold me, one of the smoothest brown ales I have ever had. No lingering malt aftertaste and the hint of coconut in the taste measured perfectly with the maple. This is a great ABA if you're looking for something smooth and not over the top malty. Prost!

Bomber from Brewers Haven. Dark brown, mahogany pour, scant head. Aroma us sweet, Maple. Taste brings forward some if the cinnamon, but the maple dominates. Little bit if coffee towards the back. Body seems thin. Coconut? Not getting it.

Poured into shallow belgian tulip. Head retention was not good. Really fizzy and watery looking, all foam disappeared quickly and almost no lacing on the glass. Also saw a few flakes of what I assume is coconut floating around, not a very appealing look. Otherwise a nice dark brown and slight coppery body.

The aroma is much more inviting than the look. Soft coconut aroma with dark roasty coffee beans at its core. Somewhat of a sweetness too like brown sugar, maple syrup, and some classic brown ale malty notes. Everything is really soft and balanced.

Taste is smooth and slightly sweeter than it is bitter but coffee and toasted malt is still clearly present, plus slight bitterness from the hops. Coconut, maple syrup, graham cracker, small hint of brown sugar and back to coffee roastiness. Overrall a nice balancing act.

Mouthfeel is smooth, velvety, but also a little bit prickly. Medium thin - almost watery - but that makes it an easy drinker, considering its noticeable sweetness.

I’m pleasantly surprised by this offering. Brown ales aren’t usually my jam but the adjuncts really kicked it up a notch from me. Thankfully the aroma and flavor saves this beer.

Type: 22-oz. bottle
Glass: Ball 16-oz. mason jar
From: Bine & Vine Bottle Shop in Normal Heights (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $7.99
Purchased: Feb. 24, 2018
Consumed: March 5, 2018
Reviewed as: American Brown Ale
Misc.: Bottled on Feb. 24, 2018; I poured this a bit too cold

Saw this one in stores for the first time on a recent trip to Bine & Vine. Didn’t think the prices was too bad at $7.99 and pulled the trigger. Really liked their first “collaboration” with Deftones, giving Phantom Bride a 4.31. This one piqued my interest with the description reading, “Good Morning, Beautiful! Cheers ~ Tom.”

Poured a very dark, almost black color with one finger of khaki tan, fizzy lacing. A few bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Average watery lacing. Average spotty retention. (Sight - 3.00)

Smelled a pleasant mix of maple, chocolate, espresso, coconut, vanilla frosting, butterscotch, caramel, creamy butter and dark chocolate syrup. Pretty complex on the nose. (Smell - 4.50)

Tasted almost as good as the nose. Got coconut, chocolate, maple bars, Mounds candy, espresso, butterscotch, caramel, vanilla frosting and chocolate syrup. So much flavor for an American Brown Ale. (Taste - 4.25)

Full body. Sticky texture. Average carbonation. Long, sweet finish. (Feel - 4.50)

This was just a world-class American Brown Ale. Was back and forth with the smell and taste, but not the overall score. (Overall - 4.50)
