Notes: Our 4th collaboration with Deftones is a smooth and juicy New England-Style IPA. Being as big of fans of the style as we are, the band was looking for something loaded with citrus notes for the summer. We powered-up this 8-bit hazy brew with Nelson, Galaxy, Mosaic and Citra, then added Simcoe Cryo hops for that extra hop bob-omb!

Hazy yellowish brew with plenty of foam in the tall Kölsch glass. Sudsy and mouthfilling. Fragrant with mango and tangerine. Tastes of orange with a little grapefruit peel. Fruity and lush but not too murky, though you wouldn't mistake it for a West Coast IPA.

There's a hot, acidic note, as in citrus pith, but again it's restrained. Pleasant malty sweetness without overdoing the sugar. Overall this is a better than average New England style brew. From the 16 oz can purchased at Liticker's Liquor.

Head is thick and lingers for a bit; honestly has a sudsy 'bath' quality to it. Not much lacing to speak of.

Really nice nose with pineapple, tangerine and lime. Tastes follow, though not quite as distinct.

Really nice.

another solid beer in this deftones series, there are a number of them now. this is a moderately hazy juice bomb with all the best hops and lots of them. the nelson and galaxy really come through here, a couple of good old friends immediately obvious in the aroma, pineapple and floral white wine and lime leaf and a little bit of orange candy or soda, really appealing. i get some of the others too, some weedy pine thing from the simcoe that starts pretty early in the flavor, cryo evident, this is just fresh as can be, seemingly more new school than other hoppy beer i have had from these guys, and something to keep on making rather than letting it fade into oblivion as a one off, assuming the hops are available enough to keep it rolling, this is well ahead of the curve! its juicy but it isnt heavy like a lot of them are in feel, it has piquancy, pungency, and dankness, and its all the best of nelson and mosaic and what i stand for. is this the best hoppy belching beaver beer i have ever had? without a doubt. great, and i mean really fabulous, combination of hops, top notch. a beer for drinking, but one for remembering too, way better that what else is out there in this style for the most part, ill look for more of this one. a highlight in their portfolio right now!

Pours a hazy light lemonade yellow with a white pillow of a head. Good retention and great lacing. Aroma is lemon Fruit Loops, pineapple and orange. Flavor follows the nose with a touch of dank in the finish without being bitter. Feel is light bodied and lightly carbonated. Overall a decent enough NEIPA without really being a stand out.

This is a great hazy IPA! Plenty of hop flavor but with that soft, easy to drink haziness and a nice dry finish. You definitely don’t pick up on the high ABV as it’s only 30 IBUs.

In addition to a complex mix of hop flavor that includes the typical citrus mixture of orange zest and grapefruit, you also get pineapple, floral, grassiness/danky elements, and many other flavors including vanilla and mint that are hard to nail down thanks to the complex hop bill. In other words, as you drink it and it warms new dimensions come out and that’s fun!

But what I like is that while this is soft and imminently drinkable, it’s also bitter and piney enough and then ends with a dry finish, so to me it’s much more interesting than other, similar hazies I’ve had as of late.

I’d drink this again and again!

Hazy yellow no visible carbonation, and three fingers of glassy white head.

It smells of lemon zest, pungent hops, dankness and orange juice.

This taste as of orange juice pineapple, malt and caramel.

Light with very little carbonation.

I got this in Reno Nevada, and I’m drinking it in Redding California July 20, 2018.

A pale deeply cloudy/hazy/milky yellow pour with two fingers tight head. Aroma is somewhat dank citrus, over ripe pineapple, a bit sweaty. Taste follows - muted mixed citrus, tropical fruit - but a bit indistinct and muddled - a bit dank and weedy on the finish with touch of hoppy bitterness creeping through the fruitiness. Feels a little thin resulting in a meekness in the end. Tasty but not as good as Phantom Bride and overall a one and done for me.

Picked up a 16 oz. mason jar from the Craft Beer Quick Stop on 9-19-18 for $2.00. Consumed on 9-24-18.

Beer poured a cloudy grapefruit juice color with a okay white head that is leaving some lacing behind.

Nose is very nice, fresh grapefruit and mango abounds.

Taste is nicely balanced between the grapefruit, orange, mango, and passion fruit. Finish is a nice touch of grapefruit rind.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and fairly refreshing.

Overall a nice representation of the style, definitely worthy of a shot!

Cloudy pale golden pour with a small head. Big juicy aroma of citrus and tropical fruit. Taste follows the nose with bitter citrus and grapefruit upfront along with some mango, papaya and apricot flavors. Can also taste a bit of cracker and yeast flavors.

A West Coast brewery brewing a haze bomb in collaboration with the Deftones? Sign me up! Milkshake hazy, the color of ripe grapefruit, the nose is on point, but the star of the show is the mango flavors.

Not a dank beer by any means, this is a poundable hazy IPA that is PERFECT for the summer.

16 oz can traded from Donald. Poured into my Boulevard Tropical Pale Ale can-glass.

The appearance is just amazing, a straight 5. JUICY pineapple-OJ color with an impeccably beautiful white head. Lots of lace left lingering too.

Aroma hits me right off the bat with a hint of Hefeweizen yeast. That unmistakable bubble gum aroma mixed with some fantastic juicy sweet orange, pineapple juice, mango, and herb is the perfect storm.

Flavor follows through nicely. This is highly enjoyable. Soft, supple, smooth. Mild bitterness to start, but it lingers on the more you drink it. The Simcoe Cryo hop addition really perks up the bitterness a bit. Notes of sawdust, honey, milk, grapefruit, marmalade, orange juice, pink lemonade, hay, dew grass, slight herb, and slight pine all glide across the palate like a dance.

Feel is acidic, smooth, creamy, perfect carbonation. Nice touch of dryness on the finish. Medium bodied. Acidity lingers on a touch too long, but that's its only fault.

Overall this beer is killer. Belching Beaver/Deftones once again nail it. Sweet relief.

8oz glass at Beer Revolution YEG Oliver Square - another kicked keg freebie, thanks for the consideration, once again, Hamish, you da man!

This beer appears a murky, medium banana yellow colour, with a thin cap of wispy and bubbly off-white head, which leaves some decent low pressure system profile lace around the glass as it quickly blows off.

It smells of big juicy orange, red grapefruit, and lemon citrus flesh, gritty and grainy caramel malt, some hard water flintiness, and more leafy, weedy, and piney green hop bitters. The taste is bready and crackery cereal malt, muddled domestic citrus rind, a fading exotic fruitiness, some damp minerality, and more herbal, grassy, and piney verdant hoppiness.

The carbonation is adequate in its palate-coating frothiness, the body a solid middleweight, and generally smooth, with nothing really getting in the way of a swell time here. It finishes off-dry, the mixed frooty essences predominating.

Overall - well, I can't think of a better way to enjoy an expensive Yankee import than this. That bias aside, the latest Deftones collaboration is bang-on for the style, and definitely worth checking out - just make sure that someone else is buying!

Murky, bright yellow beer with a tall, sticky white head. Smells like flowers and honey/lemon cough drops. The taste is kind of like the smell with bright lemon flavors and a honey sweetness with a flora but bitter finish.

The beer pours out a full on hazy light golden yellow color, with 1 finger of white head--------------- the aromas are of peach, apricot, nectarine and orange(very fruity aroma)----------------- the flavors are of peaches, nectarines, apricot, grapefruit and orange pith, the beer has a medium mouthfeel with a hoppy dry finish---------------- overall this beer is outstanding - belching beaver and deftones been making some good beer and this is no exception, this is pure fruit juice up front with a good hop bite on the back end-

On tap at BC's Pizza & Beer

A: Pours super hazy golden straw with a frothy white head that settles to a thin later and laces nicely.

S: Tropical fruit and white grapes lead, lively cirtus, resinous and grassy, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.

T: Citrus, tangerine, lemon, and grapefruit, some white grape, tropical fruit, passion fruit, apricot, and gooseberry, slightly resinous, grassy, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness. Still got a little bitterness to it, but plenty juicy.

M: Medium body, moderate carbonation, slightly soft on the palate.

O: Another BB & Deftones collab, and it's solid. Slight west coast touch on a hazy northeast IPA.

Type: 16-oz. can
Glass: Clear 16-oz. Bruges beer glass
From: Trader Joe’s in La Mesa, Calif.
Price: $3.13
Purchased: June 22, 2018
Consumed: June 22, 2018
Reviewed as: New England Style
Misc.: No canned on date

Had been kind of chasing this down, so was nice to see it at Trader Joe’s for $12.49 for a 4-pack. I picked up two along with Lord Hobo’s Boom Sauce (which was a disappointment). Really liked the first two Deftones collabs I had, giving both the wildly inconsistent Phantom Bride IPA and Good Morning Beautiful a 4.31. Only missed Swerved City IPA on the list. Can description read, “Our 4th collaboration with Deftones is a smooth and juicy New England-Style IPA. Being as big of fans of the style as we are, the band was looking for something loaded with citrus notes for the summer. We powered-up this 8-bit hazy brew with Nelson, Galaxy, Mosaic and Citra, then added Simcoe Cryo hops for that extra hop bob-omb!” Damn. That’s a good list of hops. Was hoping for another 4.31, although slightly sick may affect this review.

Poured a pale hazy color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy white head. Lots of bubbles through the haze coming up along the sides of the glass. World-class spiderweb foamy lacing. Outstanding retention. (Sight - 4.50)

Smelled Citra, citrus zest, Simcoe, Nelson, floral, light Mosaic, papaya, tangerine, pineapple and orange. Guava and mango added from the can. (Smell - 4.00)

Taste was about as good as the nose. Got Citra, Mosaic and Nelson up front, followed by lingering spicy Simcoe. Also papaya, tangerine, pineapple and guava. (Taste - 4.00)

Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, juicy, but bitter finish. (Feel - 4.25)

This was pretty good. Bummed that my cold was keeping me from all the flavors. Will re-visit when healthy. (Overall - 4.00)

Pours a murky lemon yellow color with white head leaving moderate lacing. Nose is citrusy with a little malt and yeast. Taste follows with a lot more slightly tart citrus, bit of resiny hops and a faint bit of malt/yeast. Finishes on the dry side.

Solid hazy that blends WC-IPA aroma and flavor with a NEIPA look and feel. They're not joking when they said they blasted this thing with Simcoe Cryo hops. Just be aware that it isn't all pillowy fruit rainbows going in and you'll be fine.
