11/30/21 13:57 printed on the bottom of the can and opened and drank on 9/3/2022, just over 10 months in the can. I wonder if this beer has aged for the better or worse, either way I'm pretty happy with the dark looking tasty drink I have in front of me.

Well I found out we gave it 1st place @ the 2017 LA International Beer Festival last weekend so it was a definite stand out in the crowd of almost 30 other Imperial Stouts.

Almost black in color with a light tan head that quickly disappears to leave a slight layer of lace around the top. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, and roasted coffee. Taste is of roasted malt and roasted dark coffee with dark chocolate. Medium body, smooth, light to medium body.
Overall a good RIS that has a good amount of roast, worth a try

Pours an effervescent ebony with a pinky of mocha colored head, Nice viscous look, above average head retention & lacing
S: Vanilla, dark fruit & chocolate
T: Follows the nose, dryness & charred grain up front, & a little black currant up front. Dryness, carob, molasses, a little woodyness & charred grain as this warms. Finishes with dark fruit, carob, & dryness, faint licorice notes as well
MF: Chewy, slight carbonation, slight boozey warmth
A solid RIS, well worth a go

Received as an extra in a trade.
A - Poured into my Duvel tulip a nice dark brown with a thin half finger mocha head that faded slowly to leave light lacing.
S - Aromas of light roast, fainter chocolate, light vanilla, some darker fruits along with some light malts.
T - Taste is similar to the nose, decent roast and light bitter chocolate. Nice vanilla and nougat, more dark fruits, malts aren't bad. Faint char. Quite pleasant.
M - Mouthfeel is quite nice, luscious, very smooth and creamy. Alcohol hidden very, very well.
O - Overall, this was a very solid RIS. Nice roast and char with excellent vanilla and dark fruits. Well done.

One finger head that is light tan in color, is creamy and foamy with good retention. The beer is dark dark brown and opaque.
N: Dark roasted, malts, espresso, chocolate, toffee, caramel, molasses, dark fruit, yeast, wood, and some subtle hop notes.
T: A typical Imperial Stout flavors, has some char flavors, booze notes, yeast, dark fruit.
M: creamy, carbonated, chewy, full body long finish.
O: this is a little better than average. The beer is rough around the edges. Needs some refinement. A solid start.
