An EXCELLENT example of an american imperial; strong, rich, boozy, tastes like a field of barley burned in an oak barrel. A must try for fans of the style, but maybe a bit of a shock for someone not expecting its strength. Packs a wallop, not for sessioning or hot summer days.

From the can, it pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a small head, quickly dissipating. Roasted malts tickle the nose. The mouth is assaulted by the roasted malts, followed by a slight burnt taste.

On tap at 2016 Hogs and Hops.
Near black, opaque body that looks thick and is topped by a short head that's not very durable.
Thick, viscous full body with appropriate light carbonation.
Excellent aroma with admirable complexity. Dark bread, dark dried fruits and vanilla.
Flavor is disappointing after this great aroma. It lacks balance, has strong sweet and bitter notes that don't counterbalance, is too boozy, and has too much char.
Overall: OK for style.

Enjoyed this Stout, this one would be real good in whisky barrels.

Was the best beer I had while at the brewery. Was excited to find out they have plans to age this one in bourbon barrels.
