32oz growler from Barrel and Barley (Woodstock, GA). 6.79. Served in a Terrapin goblet.
Pours a deep golden amber with two fingers of dense pale head. Retains a thin cap and a halo that leaves small islands of lace.
Aromas of bright floral hops with ocassional wafts of pine and citrus and bits of malt sugars and caramel.
Sappy bittersweet earthy hops. Still a good bit of floral followed by citrus zest, pine sap, leaves, syrup, sourdough, an almost rye spice note and some alcohol heat.
Oily slick medium heavy body with average carbonation. Lingering bittersweet flower sap finish.
While not outright bad this just lacked my preference in balance. It was certainly bitter hoppy and was plenty sweet but those aspects didn't seem to be complimentary. It wasn't a chore to drink and I won't turn it down in the future but I also won't be scrambling for more.

A - Dull Bronze in color. Darker than any DIPA I've seen. Seems like color from an extended boil, not from specialty grains. Not much head.
S - Floral and tropical fruits. Citrus and apricot.
T - hit first with those floral and citrus hops. A little overly sweet, borderline on cloying. After tasting for a while, the grain flavor seems stale. Something unpleasant about it.
M - Thick and creamy.
Overall - Good hop smell and flavor, but it's overly sweet with stale flavors.
