BOTTLE:

Silky. Adjunct. Ale esters. A bit syrupy. 6-row.

Kind of balanced, very forgettable. Not a beer I'd buy again.

My old neighbor from Oswego gave me a bottle of this. It poured a clear golden with no head and no lace. The scent had faint malt. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with grain presence. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it's ok.

Pours a golden amber with an ample off white head.

Smell is whole grain bread and cereal malt.

Taste is a nice bready malt, slight hits of caramel, and some cereal notes. It has a very creamy mouth feel.

First had as gift from a friend, poured from 12-oz. bottle into old-fashioned iced-tea glass. A perfectly pleasant, Pilsner-like experience, much more subtle than its namesake Huey P. Long.

As an zymurgiphile "on the bayou" I always try to sample the local microbrews. It is rather rare that I find a local brew worthy enough to make it into my regular lineup, but I think I have found this one to be worthy. I find that the best way to describe a brew is to use a similar tasting one as a reference. With this one, I would say that reference would the be the excellent St Arnold's Lawnmower. The Kingfish Ale adds a twist to the flavor, most notably a creme component. However there also seems to be some spices going on, but that may be the well-peppered New York Strip that is being washed down by this brew.

Regardless, this is a very worthy brew, and it will go into the "rotation". Definitely seems to be sessionable, although I have never attempted such.
