Tasted at the brewery's official launch party. This is a vanilla coffee porter.

Appearance: Dark brown to black with small off white head.

Aroma: Coffee with a hint of vanilla

Mouthfeel: Medium to light bodied. Not a heavy beer and just enough dryness.

Flavor: Roasted coffee and malt come together for a nice balance. No hop detectable and the coffee seems at the just right level with no astringency probably due to the cold brewing. The vanilla is a background player so along with a fairly light, dry mouthfeel it avoids being sweet or cloying. This is a beer focused on roasted malt and coffee and it has a good balance.

Exceptionally smooth. Lots of vanilla and just the right amount of roastiness from the malt to balance it out. I had this on tap two years ago and do not remember it being this good. I'm glad Chafunkta is now bottling this! What a great porter!

Beautiful thick dark. Nice vanilla dominated nose. Taste a nice balance of coffee and vanilla. My only gripe is that it is a little thin in mouth feel. Overall a great tasting Porter.

Pours a nice black, light brown head, good lace. Nice roasted coffee nose, chocolate, toast. Sweet malt taste, with nice coffee and chocolate, mild bitterness. Medium body, bit of creaminess. Good carbed.

Great little coffee porter from a nice new local brewery!

Chafunkta Old 504 Robust Porter has a thin, cream-colored head, a dark-brown, opaque appearance, some visible rising bubbles, and lacing webs left on the glass. The aroma is of vanilla, chocolate, mild coffee, sweet cream, and roasted malt. Taste is of all that, with low bitterness and a touch of char. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Chafunkta Old 504 finishes semi-dry and very easy drinking.

A: Poured into a pint glass to a black beer topped by a finger of dense tan head that fades quickly and leaves minimal lacing
S: Smells of vanilla and coffee with hints of roasted malts
T: taste follow the nose with a lot of vanilla with some nice smooth coffee flavors as well as some roasted malts to remind you that this is a beer. Hints of cocoa powder as well at times. The swallow on this beer is roasted malts with more coffee and lingering vanilla.
M: This beer has a moderate amount of heft on the palate with slightly prickly carbonation and a slightly drying finish.
O: Overall this is a very good representative of the style. It's kind of like a sessionable Victory at Sea but the coffee could stand to be a little stronger. It favors the sweet vanilla. If you like vanilla porters and coffee beers this one should make you happy.

Not too much coffee on nose or palate. Fair amount of vanilla. Body is a bit thinner than I'd prefer. Also, would like more chocolate and roast from the base beer.

First had poured from 12-oz. bottle, stamped "BOTTLED ON 11/18/15," into faceted mug. Brewed by Lazy Magnolia for Chafunkta, this beer uses real coffee and "Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla" beans. A lighter-bodied but still interesting Porter.
