330ml bottle enjoyed during my hotel stay down in Rochester
Looks like beer, or bier - pale yellow and clear with a nice lil sudsy head w lace. Smell has a weird sour barnyard kinda funk to it, coupled with sweet malt and some lemony hops. Taste has the same sour funk to it, with lemon hops and otherwise tasting sorta like PBR
Interesting and different enough, but ultimately not my style

Look: It pours golden with a bit of haze. It has a white head with average head retention.
Smell: It is fairly malty with a distinct grain aroma. There is no hop aroma to speak of.
Taste: It has a grainy sweet flavor with a bit of honey.
Feel: It has a medium body with a bit of syrup likeness in the mouthfeel.
Overall, it is really not like any alt that I've had. It is like a one note malt beer.

L:
-pours a clear straw golden colour with a medium, foamy, white head
-medium carbonation visible
S:
-herbal,spicy,grassy,pears,apple,light lactobacillus funk
T:
-grainy,metallic,light sourness and lacto funk,lemon,pears,green apple,ascorbic acid
F:
-medium carbonation
-light-to-medium body
O:
The only commercially available Example of the "Münster-style Altbier", which is a lacto-soured,top-fermented style, which is traditionally called "Altbier" in that Area.Nowadays it is best described as a Kölsch-Berliner Weisse Hybrid.
Drinkers expecting a Düsseldorf/Lower Rhein region-style Altbier (malty, clean, hoppy) might be disappointed.
The Pinkus does have a metallic off flavour, which luckily decreased as the Beer warmed up but was always present.

The pour is straw colored with a fair amount of carbonation. There is no date on the bottle. The taste is mild lemon, white bread, with some vegetal character near the finish. Cheers! B

500 ml bottle, as Original Pinkus Obergärig (Münstersch Alt is mentioned on the rear label), from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 5.1%. Like all Pinkus beers, it is organic. Crystal clear and extremely pale yellow colour, more like a Kölsch than any Altbier I know. Moderate but lasting white head. Weak aroma, some grassy and dusty hops. The flavour is clean and refreshing enough, a typical Kölsch, I’d say (disregarding that the beer is not brewed in Köln). There are no offensive side flavours, but the moderately hopped flavour does not blow my socks off either. Clearly drinkable, but so are many other (and better) beers. Won’t buy again.

Thought I'd try an Altbier, never had one. Someone said it had a "weird sour barnyard funk", But while I get what they are saying, I think it could be better put as sour fruit and wet grain. Approximately the taste too- sour fruit, bready, almost corn-y. Thick too, I like that.I could drink a bunch of these at 5.1.

500ml bottle, no date
Pours a pale gold with small quickly dissipating head. Biscuity aroma with something distinctly German. Bready malt corn followed by fruity sour. Very light on the palate. Not too bitter, dry, or sweet. Interesting beer, but decidedly not an Altbier. Not from Duesseldorf, not brown, no spice, no bitter dry finish. Drinks closer to a Kolsch or a top fermented Helles.

330ml bottle into a pint glass. Freshness code hard to figure out.
Looks nice enough in the glass. Faintly hazy pale yellow body. Small white head shrinks to a ring, no lacing.
Interesting aroma. Some apple, and an almost sour note.
Fortunately, the sourness doesn't translate to the taste. Sweet, malty, definite apple note, crisp and clean.going down very easy.
Mouth seems above medium with a little sharpness to it. Finish sweet apple tut hen a drying end.
Overall, paler than the few other altbiers I've tried, but a pretty nice drink. Very clean and refreshing.

Light hay colored with 1/4 inch white head. The nose is orange rind, lemongrass, and a bit of floral hoppiness. Not really busy. Honey is the first taste and is ever present. There is also dried flowers and sourdough bread. Fizzy and crisp, almost like a seltzer. Is it OK to say this is OK? Because it is just OK.

This one pours a light golden yellow-ish color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like apple cider, vinegar, and light breadiness.
This has a distinct funk and acidity to this that just can't be intended. I've seen other people comment similar thoughts, so it's not just confined to me. It basically tastes like a watery altbier mixed with old funky apple cider. Infection or not, it just doesn't taste all that good.
This is light bodied, and kind of hard to drink - I could only get through 3-4 ounces of this before giving up.
This is an absolute mess, unfortunately. Something went wrong somewhere along the line.

Pours a pale, slightly hazy golden color with plentiful white head that fades to an island in the center of the beer. Smell is malty and fruity. Taste is fruity, toasty, and malty. Medium body, with a very carbonated mouthfeel.
Tasty and easy to drink, will buy again.

Pretty good. Pours golden with a nice head. Tastes a bit malty with some fruity, and floral notes. Quite good. Easy drinking, not too heavy, and I would say fairly pleasant to drink.

Pours a golden color with a quickly dissipating head. Aroma of herbal hops with a hint of fruit on the nose. The taste is slightly nutty with a vegetable and fruit hop profile. A little grass too. Mouthful is medium with good carbonation. Good

Pinkus Altboasts on its label to be the the first USDA certified organic beer. Pinkus Alt has a golden, slightly hazy pour, a frothy head, nice lacing. I detected a malty nose and flavor. It has a full bodied feel and a finish that has delightful caramel notes. I like this beer! You should try this beer!
