Pinkus Muller Organic Hefe Weizen pours a cloudy, straw gold with a vigorous, 2” white head. It has mild spicy fruit and citrus flavors and aromas and is dry and refreshing. The malt is medium low and the beer is dry and refreshing.

First impression was that it did not look completely like a Hefe. It seemed lighter in appearance and not quite cloudy enough, also a very limited head that was quickly gone. Smell was similar, seemed to have a rich smell but not very strong. Taste followed the look and smell. Not quite the tasty flavor that you want if you hefe. Kinda a light version, one word description would be bland. There was a little bit of tart which seemed more like a berliner weiss which is more of what it looked like. On the positive side it is very clean, crisp, and easy to drink. Overall, not as rich as you want in a hefe but a pretty good, enjoyable beer.

Appearance: This beer is cloudy but a tad on the lighter golden amber side for a Hefe. A quick disappearing two finger head after being poured into a weizen glass with minimal lacing.

Aroma: Grainy/earthy wheat, some yeast and a hint of something sweet.

Taste: Creamy mouth feel albeit a bit on the lighter to moderate side with some hints of grain/earthiness with moderate carbonation.

Everything else: This is an above average Hefe in my opinion and a first for me with this brewery. The flavors aren't as sharp as I'd like but I'd buy this again.

Pours a murky light yellow with a foamy off-white head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of grain, yeast, and slight spice aromas. Taste is much the same with slightly sour grain and lemon flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that is refreshing and easy to drink with its slight sourness, but it lacks a lot of the usual aromas and flavors found in other beers of the same style.

Serving type: bottle.

Solid Hefe, easy drinking and a good wheat taste. No sweetness really.

Pinkus Organic Hefe-Weizen has a thick, white, crackly head, a very hazy golden appearance, stray bubbles, which become even hazier when the caked bottom contents are swished & poured in. Lacing is present, but dies away rather quickly. The aroma is quite odd- various sour cheese smells are picked up (cream cheese, cottage cheese, colby). Taste is of white wheat bread, tap water, sourness, and dirt. No coriander or banana was detected. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy, soft, and prickly. Pinkus Organic Hefe Weizen finishes refreshing and easy drinking.

Poured from a pint bottle into a weizen glass on 03.02.14.

A: Yellow. Typical opaque yeast cloud at the top of glass. More see through at the bottom. 1/4 finger head.

S: Lemon with some bitterness.

T: Tangy lemon dominates. Wheat is there too. There's also a strange funk or skunk flavor.

M: Smooth. Watery.

O: This wasn't a complex hef. It was too watery and had no yeast flavor. The funk or skunk quality almost prompted me to drain pour it, but I held on and didn't get sick afterwards. Maybe it was a bad batch. Based on what I had, there are many better hefs out there.
