Appearance: Dark red color with a tan head and small beading. Decent carbonation, good head retention and great lacing.

Smell: Malty, sweet and fruity. Belgian yeast is apparent too.

Taste: Light, fresh, sweet and fruity. A lightly bitter finish does a good job of refreshing the palate.

Mouthfeel: Light and crisp. Deceptive due to the color.

Overall: I liked this one. The Belgian yeast gives its flavor as always, and it's accompanied by malt and fruit flavors that make this a very fresh, light and enjoyable ale.

Served in a tumbler.

Following up the Municipal IPA while finishing Best Defense. Not a bad early afternoon... This stuff pours a clear sunrise garnet topped by a finger of dirty off-white foam. The nose comprises sweet biscuit, clove, light honey, a pinch of allspice, light pine resin, and some dull grass blades. The taste brings in more of the same, the clove mixing with its oft-companion banana, some mild Belgian candi sugar, and the underlying grassy hops to create a somewhat unique flavor combination that seems to work. The body is a light-leaning medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a sorta/kinda drying finish. Overall, a pretty tasty little Belgian-inspired brew, something I wouldn't mind having a sixer of every now and again.

Pours a cloudy copper color. 2/3 inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of caramel malt, biscuit, sweet malt, hint of roasted malt, hint of hop, and yeast. Fits the style of a Belgian Pale Ale. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of yeast, sweet malt, caramel malt, biscuit, hint of pale malt, and a hint of hop. Overall, good appearance, and aroma, but lacking any spice notes in the aroma or body.
