Pours dark black with a mocha colored head that dissipates leaving some residual tan slick on the top of the beer with a ring of mocha foam along the outside.

Smell is exactly what you'd expect from an American Porter. Roasted malts, some hints of chocolate, and a slight hoppy note on the back end.

Taste has the roasted malts and hints of chocolate and cocoa. Very nice. Finish is pretty bitter from the hops - just a touch too much for my taste. Also initially I got a strong metallic flavor that mostly wore off as the beer warmed. Also, on the finish and lingering on the palter these is some astringent bitter and boozy notes. Its just harsh on the finish.

Feel has a nice body to it. Medium carbonation. Beer is a bit harsh and rough around the edges. Lacks any smoothness.

Overall its a good beer. However, I think its just too rough around the edges and astringent. Could use a bit of smoothness for a porter.

Pours wonderfully thick for a porter. Really is a blackish tone of a body. Head is a thick creamy inch and a half of biscuity brown head. Head has nice retention and leaves solid waves of lace as it fades. Nose is just what the name suggests, robust. Rich and grainy with a nice amount of coffee and toasted dark malts in the aroma. With first sip I am a bit let down by how the robustness that was promised by the nose doesn't transpire completely into the flavor. It is not bad at all, but it is not as big as I was expecting. Dry and crisp for a porter. Shortly roasted malts paint the tongue with coco and even background hops. As I drink I tend to appreciate this beer more. This is a solid porter overall. I have been nothing but impressed with this brewery overall.

Appearance: Pitch black with tan suds and a slight line of lace.

Aroma: Coffee, mocha, cocoa. Pretty spot-on to style and quite appealing.

Taste: Rich and hearty, smooth like a milk stout and flavored well with charry malts, burnt chocolate, coffee, and bittersweet cocoa. A solid and enjoyable stout for sure.

Picked up a couple 12oz cans in a trade with awdturboiv. Poured into a standard shaker pint glass.

Pours viscous black with brown edges when held to the light, a fatty tan head, good retention with impressive lacing. Aroma is roasty and malty - coffee and dark chocolate, with some faint hop aroma (wish it were dry hopped a bit more to be honest). Flavor follows aroma with a big roasty malt bill, black licorice, tobacco, some sweetness, and what the aroma may have lacked in dry hopping, the flavor more than makes up for, staying true to the 18th Street style. Mouthfeel is silky smooth and medium-bodied, carbonation is mellow and appropriate for the style. A real working class ale - hearty, robust, flavorful - the perfect beer to wash away the wear and tear of a day's hard work.

Thin taste. Mouth feel and taste are watered down. Shame since most of 18th Street have been enjoyable for me but I wouldn’t visit this one again.
