Canned September 2016; drank 9/25/16 @ the Yarchives. B
lack appearance.
A violent pour yielded a huge dark tan head; strong, frothy lace.
Cream, caramel & fresh earth notes in the nose.
Creamy medium mouthfeel.
Cream, burnt caramel & fresh earth flavors up front; mild hop bite & faint booze heat notes on the finish.
Creamy & rich, but a touch too hoppy. Slightly above average.

Thin taste. Mouth feel and taste are watered down. Shame since most of 18th Street have been enjoyable for me but I wouldn’t visit this one again.

Pours a brown so deep as to appear black producing 2 fingers of thick, frothy, somewhat lasting, mocha head which diminishes to a hint of surface cap and thin collar ring leaving streaks of wispy lace. Aroma is cocoa, brown sugar, vanilla, faint roast & nuts. The taste is slightly sweeter than the nose expressing itself as cocoa, roast, caramel, molasses, a little char & a roasted nuttiness with hints of vanilla. The cocoa, roast, caramel, molasses & nuts become more robust from the midsip through the finish. Cocoa, roast & a pleasant bitterness make up the aftertaste. No alcohol presence in either nose or mouth. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation, creamy & slick with a faint prickle.
