On the firkin on the morning of 11/08/2014. This brew was not meant to last long.

Appearance - The stout was a deep black color with a mocha colored head clinging to the sides of the glass.

Smell - The coconut comes out in the aroma. Chocolatey malts lend sweetness to the background. There is also a creaminess to the aroma.

Taste - There is heavy coconut in the initial taste. Toasted coconut is the impression created by the malts. The stout is like a chocolate covered macaroon, washed down by a bit of sweet milk. The aftertaste gives the impression of chocolate syrup.

Mouthfeel - 18th Street knows how to do a milk stout. This is most evident in the smooth creamy mouthfeel.

Taste - If they ever bottle this, I will be in line a few hours in advance.

Vertical Series 04/08, 629/2160 into tulip
Aroma of roasted malt, fades as it sits; coconut appears as it sits
Head small (1 cm, aggressive pour), brown, fizzy, rapidly diminishing to 2 mm ring and partial layer
Lacing - none
Body dark brown/black, opaque
Flavor begins with roasted malt and is quickly followed by a hit of lactose and faint coconut; no hops, no alcohol, no diacetyl.
Palate full, creamy, lively carbonation

Appearance 3.75, Aroma 4, Flavor 4.25, Palate 4.5, Overall 4.25
This is a decent milk stout, pretty weak on the coconut for my taste.

Adding coconut to a superb base beer is a win win in this instance. Good balance of chocolate and coconut on the nose and in the taste. Mouthfeel is thick and chewy.

My favorite of the Hunter series so far. The base beer is a great milk stout. The silky and full bodies mouth feel are amazing. The coconut kicks it up to an 11.

Pours thick with ebony color, some visible carbonation & one finger of tan head. Below average head retention & slightly better lacing

S: Dark chocolate & a little coconut

T: Lactose & milk chocolate, plus some coconut on the edges with a dash of vanilla & woody hops up front. A lot of lactic sourness, carob, a little coconut, that ramps up a bit more the warmer this gets, plus a little more milk chocolate & a little Horchata cinnamon on the edges. Finishes with much lactic sourness, some charred grain, vanilla & coconut

MF: Medium/chewy body, fairly vigorous carbonation

Drinks pretty easy, this was an effort seemed to hit the target, a little more coconut is in order

Review is for draft. Having had draft and bottle, draft was better in that the coconut came through much better, both aroma and taste. Bottle had hardly any carbonation at all as well. Overall rating - Draft 4.5 Bottle 4.0
