Devilshy hoppy, this pale ale leaves a balanced bitterness and a blasphemously divine tropical hop flavor on the tongue.

Hazy golden color with white head. Aroma has some citrus fruits and quite dank hops. Taste is quite juicy but there is also a dank/vegetal hop note. Light bitterness on the finish. Medium body, lower carbonation. Quite good but there is also a weird stale flavor that is bothering me slightly.

16 oz can, born on date unknown (WTF?), poured into a mason jar at 42 degrees F:
L - golden yellow, like straw, with a white powdery head that lingered
S - hops, mainly citrus scents of grapefruit and stone fruit
T - taste follows the nose, citrus flavors with a nice crisp finish
F - light mouthfeel with medium carbonation, crisp
O - nice pale ale, good flavor

Now CANned, now from the Hammond, IN location & now distributed in PA to further The CANQuest (tm). Happy, happy, joy, joy!

From the CAN: "Pale Ale".

I Crack!ed open the vent & when I got some mild foaming, I immediately beCAN a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. It foamed nicely to form two-pus fingers of foamy, soapy, rocky, tawny head with great retention, taking forever to fall away. Color was a hazy Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9). Nose smelled of a LOT of fruit, including grapefruit, orange, tangerine, mango, papaya, guava & passionfruit! 8=O Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was the full range of fruit from citrus to tropical & while I am not going to reiterate what I enumerated previously, suffice to say that it was truly fruity. Whew! Each sip was like a burst of fruit flavor in my mouth & on my tongue. Wow! Warming, I beCAN to get caramel malt of some stripe, but it was utilized in the right quantity, IMHO, as too much of it CAN overwhelm a beer. Finish was semi-dry & while it was far from being like the style's standard-bearer of SNPA, it was still quite good. YMMV.

A: slight haze; deep gold in color; 1 finger off white head that receded to a wispy cap; nice lacing;

S: earthy and a little floral;

T: earthy and floral throughout; a bit of citric tartness toward the finish without any citrus flavor; mild to moderate bitterness at the end;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;

O: an interesting take on the style, but not something I would buy again;

16oz can, thanks to my friend, Ken, for giving me a can to try. Deep golden hued ale with a bit of haze; fluffy white head holds good retention. Aroma is citrus and pine with some fruitiness. Flavors are hop forward with a heft of a malt backbone: caramel, bready grain, grapefruit & orange citrus, mango, and pine. Medium body, resinous hop oils stick to the palate, bitter piney finish. Very solid APA as expected from this brewery who does hops well. Thanks Ken!

16oz tallboy can received through the good offices of ovaltine. No freshness date of the can.

Looks like someone ran some.autumn leaves through a blender with some water until the leaves completely disintegrated and the debris became too microscopic to see with the naked eye. Takes on a lighter, caramel color when held up to light, but otherwise remains opaque. Big creamy and fluffy looking white head. Lots of lace.

Spicy, peppery and citrusy hop notes in the nose. Big, bready maltiness as well.

Citrusy and peppery hoppiness up front, with the malt backbone close behind with a caramel breadiness. No sign of the nearly 7% alcohol.

Medium bodied, with a slightly oily mouthfeel.

Bigger malt backbone than I'm used to, but nice. 15-20yrs ago, a beer with this amount of hop flavor that clocks in at 6.8% abv would be called an IPA as a matter of course, but the ratio of hops to malts in the flavor dept. makes pale ale a wise choice to put on the can. I'm enjoying this at the end of my work week. Thanks, Mike!

A: The beer is slightly hazy yellowish amber in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that quickly settled down, leaving lots of lacing down the sides of the glass and a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface.
S: Moderate aromas of tangerine citrus are present in the smell along with hints of caramel hops.
T: The taste follows the smell, but has stronger underlying notes of caramel hops, the latter of which also contribute a light amount of malty sweetness. No bitterness is perceptible.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. There is a light to moderate amount of crispness.
O: This IPA is a lot more maltier compared to other beers in the style and hardly has any bitterness.

Pours a hazy rusty brown color with a fluffy off-white head. Really nice citrus aromas on the nose, primarily ripe tangerines, and there’s also a notable malt component.

The taste is significantly brighter than this beer looks - the tangerines launch a full-on assault on the palate, but there’s a nice balance with the caramalt flavor.

This a really nice, citrusy APA that I’d enjoy on the regular if it was available more often. Really well done by 18th Street.
