Thanks to rudzud

Cap is covered in rust, pours no head at all, a bit of legs, dark ruby mahogany molasses brown color

Nose brings quite a bit of cardboard oxidation, also toasted oak dank wood, sweet candy malt, a little reddish toasted malt, mild caramel and toffee, a touch of alcohol with some fruity esters, little cereal grains

Taste not too bad, soft creamy malts, more toffee and caramel, plenty of sweet reddish malts, soft aged malt effect a bit, and a touch of dark fruits and esters, mild toasted oak barrel, not a ton, little barrel nutty characters, spicy earthy hops, quite bitter briny spicy hop late

Mouth is med to fuller bod, light on the carb, a little soft creamy, booze hidden fairly well

Overall not too bad but not great either

Received as a thank you for hooking someone up with a half case of Tree House. 2015 12oz bottle.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice dark brown chestnut hue with no real head but decent lacing.

S - Big aromas of oxidation, decent wood and barrel. Flashes of esters and caramel. Definitely old and tired.

T - Taste is similar to the nose with loads of sweeter malts and caramel, at the finish there are loads of spicy bitter hops. Really decent caramel and bourbon barrel.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, almost thin, and non-existent. Alcohol is hidden nice though.

O - Overall this was a really lackluster beer. Just a mess.

Got this one from claaaark13 a while back. Cheers!

From a bomber into a snifter
Vintage: 2016
Drank the 2015 vintage right afterwards

APPEARANCE: This one is a slow foamer upon opening. Careful pour yields a 1+ finger, medium looking, creamy, light beige head with good retention. Head eventually fades to a full wisp. Dark mahogany in color with no real carbonation. A ring remains until the end leaving falling dots of lacing down the glass.

SMELL: Lots of red fruits, caramel and toffee, oak, bourbon and caramel candy on the nose. Bold and definitely boozy.

TASTE: Very sweet with caramel, toffee, red fruits and bourbon up front. Fruity, sweet bourbon finish with a bold and lingering aftertaste of oak, bourbon, toffee, red fruits and candy sweetness with a good bed of booze holding it together. This is really, really lovely.

PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Silky on the palate, goes down smooth with a burn at the finish and finishes rather sticky. Some heat lingers.

OVERALL: This is outstanding. Lots of sweet malt character and the bourbon barrel lends a top-notch boozy sweetness to bring it all together. Sticky candy all over this place. The 2015 had pretty much all of the same characteristics but was a little sharper and harsher in the booze department. This vintage knocked it out of the park though. Wonderful stuff and I’m glad I had a chance to give it a go. Thanks again, claaark!

Age did this beauty justice. Consumed today and I'm not sure how old it is but delicious.
Pour was brown with hints of red. Little head that almost goes flat leaving some lacing behind.
The smell was classic barleywine dark fruit with chocolate, vanilla, coconut, roast, and some good oakiness.
Taste was just like the smell but the chocolate, roast and subtle coconut was very pleasant to the palate.
Feel was full, thick, chewy, slick, it basically coats your mouth in goodness!
Overall a very delicious beer for the style and it's too bad it's no longer brewed (insert sad emoji here)!

The beer pours a deep, dark brown color, very cloudy, with a dark tan head. Beautiful beer.

The aromas are toffee, caramel, some hops, and the bourbon. Will it be hot? Given the 11%+ ABV, it should be.

It is not. The bourbon is present, but it meld so well with the toffee and caramel notes, you forget it's there. That is REALLY difficult to execute, but 18th Street did it.

I think Central Waters does some outstanding stuff with their barrel-aging program and their scotch ale, barleywine, and imperial stout, but this beer is on that level. I wish I had another gallon of this exceptional beer.
