Dull black with a fuzzy tan foam blanket lightly curled at the edges.

This is very woody and splintery up front as cocoa and astringent malt underlie the intensely smoky almost hickory like barrel.

Feel is slick and watery but rounded by the carbonation finishing with a slightly warming swallow.

Appearance - The stout poured a deep black color with a reddish hue and mocha colored bubbles crowning the glass.

Smell - The spice of the base beer was not evident but rich chocolate and red grapes were very present.

Taste - At the front were red grapes and rich dark chocolate. The spice of the base beer is largely gone. What became of the spear with a little time on its hands is almost like a port. Some cinnamon hints were found near the finish, but we’re overall hard to find. The overall profile is amazingly well balanced.

Mouthfeel - The one thing that really keeps the spear from being elite is the viscosity. I found the beer to be a little of thin.

Overall - I personally would not of paid $45 for this beer. That said it is quite nice.

This version is 2016 from bottle fresh. Very smooth. Loads of flavor. Lots of cocoa. Notice barrel aging, but can't specify cognac by drinking. Very good; a definite must try.

I only tasted it at Barrel Massacre. Coffee, bourbon, cocoa, cinnamon, almost pulls off a powder sugar taste. It's just a touch hot. With time, you are looking at a beer that should be a top Russian Imperial Stout. Way better than expected and it is RARE. Good luck trying to find one. It might become a fantastic beer that will be talked about in legend because there are so few out there.

On tap at CBC 2016. Pitch black with an espresso head. Tons of coffee, bourbon, cocoa, milk chocolate, some licorice and cinnamon. Excellent beer, definitely one I would try again.

Had on tap at barrel massacre. delicious beer... will definitely seek out again.... if you have the chance to get one, you wont be disappointed

like regular bbank it has the amazing cinnamon, choolate, coffee, dark fruit taste... but the cognac barrel add a layer of smoothness...hopefully ill be able to find an additional bottle of this being that it is so limited in #.
