Brewed as a salute to our brothers at Spiteful Brewing, Deal With the Devil is a beer that comes with a price: our souls. After securing a box of foolproof, sought after hops, we came up with a juicy pale ale that’s low in bitterness and huge in tropical flavors. This beer is unfiltered. Sediment may form.

L-3.5 S-
16oz can
date stamped 08/01/21
thanks to Ron for giving me a 4 pack!
L: rocky pillow of foam caps a hazed amber colored ale
S: pine, citrus, caramel malt
T: assertive bitterness meets a bold caramel malt backbone: pungent pine, zesty grapefruit & orange, grainy toasted & caramelized malt, bread crust
F: fuller body, resinous, ample carbonation, dry finish
O: initially I thought I was drinking a pale ale because that was what the label says, but when I got here I had to double check some things - it’s a DIPA and it does sneak up on you. Good beer but in my opinion lacks a wow factor that a lot of people seem to be experiencing with this one

Dark copper colored with an inch of densely packed tan head. Excellent clarity. Moderate lacing. I am tasting pine and earthy hops along with sweet bready malt and alcohol. The mouth is smooth and a bit warm with alcohol.

Bright unfiltered slightly hazy orange amber with two fingers creamy bubbly yellowish tinged off white head.
Citrus, mango, slightly dank nose - caramel malt, slightly floral, piney and as warmed pungent over ripe orange.
Taste citrus sweet, caramel malt - quickly piney, resinous hops with grapefruit, grapefruit peel, tropical and finishing with a coating sticky bitterness.
Medium full mouthfeel with moderate carbonation and a sticky bittersweetness that makes this a contemplative sipper.

CAN
Creamy sheeting white head over hazy dark amber; ripe clementine nose with speck of honey + socks; touch of blonde toffee then huge orange slices, a bit of pine + pineapple, slightly grassy end; creamy, smooth, round, low bitterness. Opens into herb + apricot.

Jan 25 for a canning date (but in Euro format, which is odd - I didn’t think a brewery this small would label for export) so fresh enough for a non-NEIPA.
The label says imperial pale, not IPA, which reminds me straight away of St Lupulin. And that works: there’s a sweetness to the malts (BEERchitect said pound cake), the hops are all high + bright without any resiny anchor, and the body is super soft.
This adds up to a West Coast-style hop profile - that real Tang/Children’s Bayer orange you get from 100% Amarillo in old school Cali IPAs that sneaks in bits of flowers + tropical - in a pillowy NEIPA wrapper but with APA drinkability.
A fun + sneaky dangerous beer.

One of the better double ipas have I have lately it's quite smooth drinkable with a well-concealed ABV. I know they can is listed as a pale ale and I'm not sure what most they use but it's still a very great double IPA
