This is a new venture that is located in the old World of Beer spot. (Previous reviews seem to indicate this.) It is a small, but cozy, sports bar offering a wide variety of 50 craft beers. Include a very knowledgeable server, decent menu and an impressive beer list - including Modern Times - and you'll enjoy yourself. It is a short walk from the Ballston Metro Station and about a 10-minute walk to the incredible Rustico.

Yes, this is a chain restaurant, but the name says a lot. With 49 beers on tap (but most quite local), there's some choice to be had.

Atmosphere (vibe) : We arrived during Happy Hour. The place was pretty full of 30-somethings, but we got a table in the back so we could hear each other.

Quality: Our table, etc, was clean. My flatbread was distractingly salty.

Service: Our waitress was really pretty attentive.

Selection: Salads, Sandwiches, Flatbreads ... it's not meant as fine dinning. But did I mention they have 49 beers on tap?

Food: Beyond my really salty flatbread, My wife's steak was a modest (I'd guess) 5 ounces. And her broccoli sat in a brown sweet pool of something; just odd.

Value: I'm totally glad we tried this place, but I don't imaging returning. The Bier Baron Tavern (in DC) is a much better value.

Excellent selection, both on tap and more in bottles.

We had a great time trying creative beers that can only be found here. Good live music without the cover.

Not sure why this place gets a bad wrap. It's a sports bar with an excellent draft and bottle selection. But its not an obnoxious sports bar like First Down or BW3's. I have been a couple of times now and the service is always good. Food is better than what I would expect from such a place. Their draft list is always good, I would say it can keep up with all but the most elite beer bars in the District. Pricing is on par with everywhere else in Arlington. If you are in Ballston and don't hate tvs with sports on them, this place is hard to beat.

I visited WOB the day it opened in 2012 and was extremely disappointed. I live close enough to walk (albeit a long walk, about a mile) and would have been a regular patron had the beer selection or service been a little better. My first impression was that they had a lot of "ok" beers but nothing to make me go out of my way to stop in and definitely nothing to make me pick them over Rustico. If I had reviewed the place on that visit, I'd have probably given it a much worse rating but I have been a few more times in the past year and a half and they do occasionally get really great beers in. And when they do get something special in, they tend to last MUCH longer there than some of the other places in the DC Metro area. So I do like that when a beer that I've been wanting to try is on tap on a day I cannot go, it's not a big deal. I can just go the next day and chances are it will still be there. The WOB app is pretty handy too and allows you to keep track of their tap list in real time so no wasted trips.

Disappointment. An extensive beer list, but nothing you couldn't get at at well-stocked Total Wine. Unimaginative beer list, indifferent service, loud boring customers. The big beefy bartender guy made clear to his coworkers that all he wanted to do was "get out of here," then chased the cute blonde girl bartender around behind the bar making inappropriate remarks, like "guys don't like skinny girls." There were armies of staff but nobody seemed terribly interested in taking orders. The beer list had been printed Sunday but they seemed to be out of a significant number of kegs by Tuesday evening and the many many staff people behind the bar seemed unable to explain most of the replacement beers, assuming we could get their attention, which was difficult even at a prime spot at the bar.

Visited on a Saturday night. The place was crowded, but we found a table. There was an acoustic duo playing on a small stage.

Oveall, a bar that I will revisit, but not my go to place in Arlington.

A - Clean, new, but rather crowded. Tables and high tops too close together. Maybe a bit too dark. Sat at a high top, but the bar seemed nice. The place has outside seating that is nice, but nothing fancy. Place tends to gear up late. Earlier is the time to go if you want to avoid the late night crowds.

Q - No complaints. Lots of cooler space, so it looked like they put the beer in as soon as space was available. Probably could turnover so no issues with aged beer. Beer generally served in the proper glassware.

S - Did not have to ask for a glass, like at many bars. The server poured my beer for me, but did not really know how to do it properly (e.g. no head what so ever). Attentive but not too much. Helpful with the beer list for my wife, but our server was not fully aware and when asked if a specific beer was available said "no," when in reality it was looking you right in the face if you sat at the bar and looked in the coolers. Ticky-tacky, but she could have asked.

S - Huge selection across both states and countries. You'll find something new or something you've had and like. Always check out the new arrivals board, since the beer list is not immediately kept up-too-date. Not going to find any beers remotely close to a whale at this place. The draft beer selecton could be better as well.

V - I thought the pricing was reasonable, especially for the draft beer.

Great selection - 700+ bottled beers and over 50 draft beers. The atmosphere is slightly lacking, mostly due to the location and " chain feel" to the place. But if you're here for beer, they have more than any other place in NOVA. The food menu is short but they provide the unique option to order in from other nearby restaurants. I recommend for anyone with a taste for variety and quality beer
