Brewers notes:
Rye porter bittered with organic arugula from All Seasons Farm in Cobden, IL, and blended in the fermenter with roasted arugula root, giving the beer a roasted coffee-like aroma.. 6.0% abv

Served on draft at the Green Lady during the South of 80 event.
12 oz. in a footed tulip, review from notes.

Black body topped with a compact and sturdy cap of tan foam that remained for most of the glass. A halo of spotty lacing ringed the inside rim of the glass.

Roasty, earthy aroma, coffee (attributed to the roasted arugula root), bitter roasted black malt, no vegetal qualities from the arugula.

Flavor is dry, roasty, and bitter, great porter character, packed with roast malt flavor yet still light bodied and drinkable. The arugula only seems to lend a complimentary bitterness rather than any vegetal notes. Nice dry finish invites another sip. Overall a great beer from an exciting new brewery in southern Illinois.
