Quick review from written notes.

"Strong belgian farmhouse ale featured in Draft magazine. Brewed over a fire with wild rose root, wild ginger, spice bush and chanterelle mushrooms for a rich, spicy, peppery finish."

Dark reddish amber color with an ever-present layer of soft white foam that leaves behind spotty lace in the glass. Color is dark, but there's a ruby glint when held to the light, displaying a good degree of clarity.

Spicy Belgian yeast aroma, pepper and bubblegum at first, light malt sweetness underneath. More yeast driven than anything.

Very smooth, creamy feel. Flavors of light clove and peppery spice, dried berries, and a lingering bitter aftertaste Some earthy, woody notes from the spices and mushrooms i'd imagine. Easily drinkable, the spiciness of the adjuncts and Belgian yeast didn't overpower, and blended nicely. Forest Ale is an apt description, as the aroma and taste suggests elements of a forest in autumn.

A unique, complex, and conceptual ale from Scratch Brewing. They are one to watch for sure...
