Pours a really dark cinnamon brown, with a handsome head in the Aventinus Weissbier bulb. Pleasant aroma of dark grains and clove. Pleasant carbonation and a spritzy mouthfeel.

This has a rich malty taste featuring a refined flavor of the Hefeweizen esters. This is just sweet enough with plenty of malty taste. Dark roasted grains with a banana twang and a restrained spicy clove note. Even a little cinnamon. Some bitterness at the finish, though brewer rates this at just 16 IBUs with Willamette hops.

I haven't had a really good German Dunkelweizen, but I would be surprised if many are any better than this. Smooth, darkly malty, and balanced with some hoppy bitterness and a brisk spicy note. Growler filled from the tap at the brewpub.
