Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is sweet, corn. Taste is malts, corn, a bit sweet, but not nearly as much as the smell would have indicated. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall, I would choose this over a Bud, Coors, or Miller.

Cerveza La Tropical
Appearance: Light gold, small head, and a little lacing.
Smell: Skunky grain.
Taste: Grains, slight lemon, and malts.
Mouthfeel: Light.
Overall:
It is kind of like malt liquor. Nothing really stands out as great, but it isn't bad.

Well I guess I can't say that I'm too surprised by the fact that this beer was really nothing to speak of. Mexico does not make too many beers that I would call great. It looks like any other average beer with a medium golden color and a thin and fast head. Taste was that of a skunked beer or similar to a bad heineken. Not saying that there's noone out there that will like this beer but you won't see me buying it again anytime soon. We found it at a small store out of town and picked it up because we will buy and try anything on the market. If you enjoy mexican beers I would say this one falls in line with most others.

If, as Chrissie Hynde once sang, it's a thin line between love and hate, it's a thinner line between Saaz overuse and skunk. Man, was this pungent with sulfurous esters. Color was a deep yellow with NE-quality clarity. Mouthfeel was light with a lemony, cirtusy taste underlain with skunk. Finish was bitter, sourish, and disappointing. Oof.

La Tropical pours a dark gold with a minimal white head from a green twelve ounce bottle. The aroma is a bit of corn and some pale malt. The taste is roughly the same, some graininess, some corn and some pale malt. Decent enough for what it is. Tried fresh at the brewery tasting room (Florida Beer Company in Melbourne contract brews this beer).

Thought this was a Cuban beer when I had a it at the "Cuban" restaurant in Disney.
Pours pretty light straw colored, light foamy head. Nose consists of very light wheats, a little alcohol, slight skunk, nothing really bad but not much there that's good either. Taste is comparable. Very light, bubbly, and slightly citrusy. Nice for a hot day, if nothing else is around. Nothing special.

Inexplicably part of the "American Craft Beers" pack at Cost Plus. Pours a clear gold with zero head. Nice lacing, though. Big time sweet corn on the nose. This is definitely sweeter than the average lager. Sweet, grainy corn with a decent hop twang. There's not really a whole hell of a lot to say here, other than that La Tropical is more or less the Budweiser of Cuba, and that it isn't really better or worse than the Budweiser of any other country. Definitely refreshing as a lunchtime beer. If you want a laugh, go to the brewery's website, where they list the beer's numerous awards... the most recent: 1912.

The big, white, fizzy, noisy head leaves spots and some swoops. The beer is gold, a little dirty with just a touch of amber. Huge spoonk in the nose, a little corn, a little crackers, some tanginess. Not bad. Starts light, fresh, tangy. Fizzy middle is just a little milky with some bread. A decent, bitter, crisp snap of a finish. Some toast. It's not a bad Central American lager. Even shows some butter caramel with temperature.

This was a pretty average brew, it had its good and bad properties. The appereance was pretty good. It was a dark gold with an off-white head that stuck almost the whole way through the glass. It left a sticky lace around the glass.
The smell left something to be desired. It did not give you much aroma of anything more than a US macro.
The taste was more than I expected. It was an average taste with one distinctive quality, it has a slight flavor of spices at the end.
The mouth feel was suprisingly good, it had a very nice consitency with a good amount of carbonation.
This would be a great brew to have after a long days work on a summer day. A very good start to try to convert the macro drinker
