Growler from the North location.

Appearance: Bright golden glass shows some haze. Second day off the growler the head has died back a bit but is white and laces.

Aroma: West coast citric hops with a candy sweet base supporting the acids.

Taste: Bitter wins out but not by much. Lots of hop flavors, some leafy, some citric, bit of pine, all of it fresh and tasty. The bitter intensity is low enough the malt base doesn't have to be too chewy so this come across as a light and drinkable IPA edging into a hoppy APA. It doesn't go the session IPA route of shorting the base so there is no dryness in the finish making it much more satisfying.

Mouthfeel: Medium to medium heavy body, bit oily with a small chew. Carbonation is a bit low, but again, second day on a growler. Would put it medium on the first half yesterday.

Overall: Yum. Solid IPA, no flaws, nice west coast profile with citric highlights, and enough malt to carry the day. Complimented their awesome pizza well.

From notes:

First beer of the evening. Poured a hazy orange with a light tan head. Distant citrus aroma. Taste has a tame bitterness with a background of malty sweetness. A bit chalky and has an oily end, but tasty nonetheless. Light to medium and pretty dang smooth. This one doesn't have a knock-your-sock-off bitterness, but is great for starters.

Had on tap at Pinthouse Pizza

A - Looks great in the glass, nice 2 finger head and an inviting amber-orange color. Average head retention and nice lacing on the glass.

S - Very floral and piney. Notes of grapefruit and pine up front, and a mild fruitiness as well.

T - Clean, crisp, and hoppy. The flavor profile pretty much follows the nose. Pine and grapefruit up front, and a crisp bitter finish on the back end. Very tasty.

M - Light to medium mouthfeel. Slightly sticky, very smooth and crisp finish.

O - A very solid IPA that goes fantastic with their pizza. It's so easy to enjoy some great food and knock several of these back. Full of flavor and a great compliment to the food. A must try if you're in the area.

pleasantly hopped american ipa looking westward for inspiration. a little mango, a bit of sweet lemon, and light, biscuity malt on the nose of this golden brew. clean, bitter finish and medium- full body keeps me interested. bittering hops definitely lunger on the palate. 6.5% abv.
