Very nice appearance with good amber color, slight haze, and generous head that retains well. Nose... hmm... banana bubble gum and a whiff of toast. Palate has a soft, wet cardboard taste, seems undercarbonated, and not much of any flavor in any good direction at all that I can detect. Finish has an off-metal quality to it.

Sugary, Caramel and metal...yum???...no.... Not much more to say about this. Just not very good, worst beer I've had in some time.

doesn't taste like what I think of when I think "saison" but enjoyed it. A little on the sweet side.

I've heard this was brewed at Nimbus in Arizona...but what's this? "Monroe, Wisconsin" - please tell me this isn't some Minhas contract brew. And it has screw-off caps. Whatever, 12 oz bottle into a teku.
Appearance: Pours a hazy dark copper color. Well, at least it isn't completely clear. The head is a finger high, and vaguely off-white in shade. It looks pretty nice: the texture is soft yet thick, while the retention is okay. The lack of bubbly fluff is unbecoming of the style, though. A tiny amount of lacing is left on the glass. (3.25)
Smell: Very sugary for a saison, with the dominant note being caramel sweetness and table sugar. Let it warm up, and it will develop some cooked veggies and moldy basement. Uh oh - and that's before I mention the cardboard I pick up. Only a touch of black pepper-esque yeast comes through. Not only is it way, way, WAY too sweet smelling, it has some unpleasant off-notes. Oh boy, this smells like it will be a total riot... (1.75)
Taste: Well, at least it isn't as sweet as the nose indicated. The bad news is that all those off notes from the nose are amplified down here on the taste buds. Its dominating flavors are cooked veggies, mold, cardboard, and black pepper. Maybe even a hint of metal. This manages to have a combination of bad flavor AND no flavor all at the same time. Might be the worst saison ever...no wait, it's probably in the bottom 5 of any beer I've ever had. (1.25)
Mouthfeel: It is fairly dry yet soft. I will give them that. But it tastes like ass, so I have no interest in letting this loiter around my palate. Carbonation isn't quite as lively as I like in the style. (2)
Overall: I actually have some homebrewing experience - me and my friend once tried to make a golden ale with some two-bit beer kit. And it tasted similar to this. By the way, it was utter trash. Of course, this was a drain pour (I made it to five and a half sips). The worst thing is that I have two more of these total turds in my craft beer of the month club box; come to think of it, I've always wanted some targets for practicing shooting a rifle. See, every beer has its place! (1.25)
1.57/5: Y'know, if you're going to contract a brewer to make your beer, how about using anyone other than Minhas?

Pleasant Belgian, poured from bottle at the brewery, no barrels yet. Beer is actually brewed in Wisconsin. Was being brewed in Tucson before.
Zero flocculant, deep amber/caramel color looks good. No lace to speak of.
Very mild cloviness, maybe a banana note as well, but more pepper than usual.
Well worth the time and taste!
