Pours a dark brown with a one finger mocha head that faded slowly into a thin cap with moderate lacing.

Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate.

Taste of strong dark chocolate, malt, hints of coffee and a slight toffee sweetness. As the beer warms a light citrus flavor comes out.

Mouth Feel is medium body, light carbonation, smooth and rich.

Overall a nice sweet stout, if you are in Virginia it is worth a taste.

On tap in a tulip stem glass.

Overall: a good stout. Roasty with cocoa notes. Not a creamy or chewy style.

Deep black color with some mahogany highlights at the edge. A one finger light brown head that settled to an off white ring. Some lacing.
A light aroma of roasted malts and cocoa. A slight grassy effect. Husky with a hint of alcohol.
Taste is quite roasty with a hint of char. A chocolate flavor is present, but it's not sweet or creamy. It's more like bitter organic chocolate. A little grassy in the finish.
Mouthfeel is full bodied. Medium to low carbonation. Some smoothness, but not really creamy.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a dark brown color and an opaque consistency. There was an inch of foamy, off white head that lasted an average amount of time. Not much lacing.

S: A fairly muted aroma of malt, chocolate, and a bit of dark fruit. Kind of underwhelming.

T: Tasted of a fair amount of chocolate (not quite enough), a lot of roasted malt, light hops notes, some dark fruit notes (plums, raisins), and a tinge of coffee as well. Like the aroma, the taste suffers from a certain blandness. The chocolate is present, but isn't quite assertive enough; this is true of most of the ingredients.

F: A decent amount of carbonation with a dry finish. Medium-bodied.

O: This is a disappointing beer. Definitely could have been better.

I took a bit of a risk with this beer and bought a growler before trying it and man am I happy with that decision.

Appears dark black with absolutely no light shining through. One finger of head when poured, but it isn't retained very well.

Smells good, but nothing amazing. Just a tiny bit roasty with definite notes of chocolate.

Tastes great. It's pretty sweet, but not boozy at all. Perfect amount of chocolate, with hints of toffee.

Lightly carbonated. Doesn't coat the mouth as well as it could.
