Actually pretty impressed with this Mad Tree offering. For whatever reason I've been staying away from red ipa's. Being the Homer that I am I decided to give this a try. The nose on this is really terrific and probably the best part about the beer. Taste is solid and delicious with the hops leading the charge and gives way to a nice malty touch I enjoyed. Good flavor all the way through . . . Right up until it quickly washes away into nothing. Meaning that this beer has to be in your mouth to taste anything. Some beers leave lingering flavors that are enjoyed after each sip. Not so with Rounding Third. Once this is swallowed you'll need to follow up fast or the drinking experience is over fast. Overall though a good red ipa that may just bring me back to the style.

I got a six pack of this from the local Meijer. The beer poured a hazy amber with white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had hints of citrus peel and malt. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with citrus peel presence mixed with malt. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its a solid beer.

12 ounce can, canned on 06/22/2015. Served in a MadTree Belgian glass (a snifter/tulip hybrid), the beer pours a hazy reddish/orange color with about an inch and a half frothy off-white head that sticks around for a long time. There's also a lot of lacing left behind on the glass. The brew smells mostly like pine and citrusy (grapefruit, lemon peel, tropical fruit) hops, along with some bready malt and a bit of earthiness. The taste is pretty much just like the aroma, except that the taste doesn't seem quite as hoppy in comparison. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit creamy and coating with a good amount of carbonation. I think it's a good red IPA, I know I won't have any issues drinking my other cans! $9.99 a 6-pack.

A: A murky brown color with a medium amount of light tan head.

S: Big pine and resin, with some pretty heady caramel notes.

T: Taste follows suit, with pine and resin flavors dominant, some earthy tones, and caramel in the finish, with a decent bitter linger.

M: Medium in body with medium high carbonation.

O: Overall, not bad.

Go Reds! MadTree really knows how to capture a city. This beer fits perfectly. BA calls it an IPA but it is more a hoppy red ale. Smells the part. Looks the part. great reds beer

12 FL. OZ. can
Served in a tulip glass

This beer pours copper in color with burnt orange highlights. It is topped with two inches of tan head that leaves rings of lacing with each sip.

There is plenty of malt in the smell. I smell some pine and grapefruit as well.

It starts out mellow with some malty goodness. Through the middle I get some grapefruit. The finish is pine bitterness.

Medium mouthfeel

This is a solid red IPA. I have been drinking a lot of juicy IPA's lately. This gets back to what IPA's were like when I joined BA several years ago. And it is a good beer to drink while watching the Reds.

A: The beer is hazy dark reddish amber in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high beige colored head that died down, leaving a thin head covering the surface and lots of webs of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of sweet, toasted malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell, having sweet flavors of toasted malts along with some spicy notes of hops and a slight amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and slightly smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is rather malty for an IPA, but is an interesting change of pace in today's world of hoppy and bitter IPAs.

12oz can fro Kain05 (thanks for the surprise box!). Canned 6/27/15. Served in a goblet.

Pours a deep, clear amber with two fingers ecrue head. Patchy retention with a sizeable collar that deposits large swaths of lace.

Smells slightly piney and slightly citrusy with hints of caramel.

The taste is more bitter than expected. Pine sap, grapefruit rind, herbaceous floral petals, singed caramel and a little black pepper.

Fairly light, midly oily body with moderately sharp carbonation. Bitter finish of citrus peel and earthy, herbal petals.

There is nothing at all wrong with Rounding Third but there is also nothing really inspiring. Ultimately this is a serviceable and pretty tasty red IPA. Not something I'll search for more of but not something I'll tuen away either.

From a 12 fl. oz. can, it pours a brilliant copper and forms a 2-inch, creamy, tan head. The head dissipates slowly, but stayed with me to the end. The noseis sweet, with intense hop aromas. The hop is so evident it is hard to notice the malt. I look forward to sipping this ale! The carbonation is medium. The body is medium-full with distinct bitter hops covering the center of my tongue and rich malt notes. It lingers very nicely and is totally moreish! Beautiful Belgian lace forms after every sip. The ABV is not noticeable on the palate. I will definitely seek this out again. If you are a hop-head like me, I highly recommend Rounding Third!

12oz can served in a nonic glass. Canned on 03-13-2018. Batch stamp: "11:51:41 GOOOOAAAL"

Appearance: Translucent medium copper-amber. Light tan persistent foam across the top with lots of persistent lacing all over the glass.

Smell: Pine and orange citrus.

Taste: Bitter with pine and citrus notes, balanced with a good toasted malt backbone. Bitter finish with some spicy aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Light carbonation, sticky on the teeth.

Overall / Drinkability: Easily drinkable and I think this would be a good hoppy beer to have at a baseball game. A solid AIPA.
