12oz can, sample from the brewery.

Great looking head on top of a slightly hazed out golden hue. Juicy with tones of dankness and a Juicy Fruit bubblegum character within. Juiciness gets all tropical within an orangey bubble. Ample bitterness and a big smooch of alcohol ... warming, not hot. All of the hop character of these juicy IPAs but none of the opaque cloudy look, just some chill haze. By far one of the better IPAs I've had this year.

Poured from a can into a Woodburn tulip. The pour is light gold in color and slightly hazy with two fingers of fine white head. On the nose I get juicy orange pulp, marmalade, lemon rind, peaches, lemon poppyseed muffins.

Medium body with a firm feel and a bitter, fruity, hoppy flavor. Dry oyster crackers up front, then lemon drops, orange slices, a little white pepper, and kumquats. Very citrusy with a pleasant quinine-like bitterness. Well-balanced. The finish is dry and appetizing, with lingering hoppy flavors of citrus fruit and fresh flowers.

The competition for "favorite canned/bottled local IPA" may have just found a new champion. First Rhinegeist impresses me with Knowledge, then MadTree comes in with this, which may not be better than Knowledge, but is at least as good and also a little cheaper. So fortunate to live near the Queen City. The beer scene here is worth getting excited about.

Incredibly floral and laced with the most succulent of hop varieties, the brewers at Mad Tree come with a tropical and citrusy IPA with moderate bitterness and an overall citronella character.

Opening with a bright golden hue with a slight shade of peach and orange, the aromas spell from the light froth and tease the senses with a high potpourri of citrus, tropical and herbal greens. Succulent and sweet, the moderately malty upstart splashes the tongue with honey, caramel and cashew.

As the hops unfold on the middle palate, its sweetness begins to waver, bringing a radiant array of tangerine and red grapefruit. Apricot and mango follow with a tropical and tangy richness before finishing botanical with the bitterness of fresh cut grass, hemp and geranium.

Trending dry, crisp and refreshing, the IPA shies slightly away from the dryness or bitterness of west coast styled IPA as its balance seems to straddle the flavor and balance fences of pale ale and IPA, however its strength flirts with imperial status. Its an enigmatic hoppy ale that simply hits on all cylinders.

Is there ANYTHING the folks at Madtree don't do well...another fine entry in their catalogue of very good beers...they have others that I prefer, but this is the favorite of my lady friend, and for good reason...great feel and taste and obvious quality...now in cans!

12 oz can poured into pint glass canned on 7/19

A: Small tiny bubbled white head. Body is a slightly hazy amber.

S: Slight grapefruit rind and a little resiny hops. A little cantaloupe and over ripe melon. A little caramel malt background.

T: Slight melon and pineapple a little light lemon and grass. Finishes with a light malty biscuit taste.

M: medium bodied decent carbonation light cling on the finish.

O: This is a solid beer, surprised it's not rated higher. Has a nice fruit taste with decent bitterness and a well rounded finish.

I'm not sure how I ended up with this beer....but glad for the chance to try it. It poured a hazy copper with thin white head and no lace. The scent had a floral potpourri lean. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink even with elevated abv. There was even citric and floral presence. The mouthfeel is medium in body with good carbonation. Overall it's a decent beer.

So someone claims this is the best cinci IPA, it is a really well done IPA, but go check out Listermann's. That being said it's very well done, scoop you some.

12 FL. OZ. can
Served in a MadTree snifter

This beer pours a hazy amber color with golden highlights. It is topped with an inch of tan head that leaves decent lacing.

This can has more tropical fruit notes than the draft did. The draft was dank with a marijuana aroma. The can has some dank aroma, but it is secondary to the tropical fruit.

The taste is nice and dank. I get some hints of citrus throughout with pine in the finish.

Medium mouthfeel

This is a great, dank IPA. I preferred the draft version, but I like it in the can, too!

Canned on 4/5/18. 12oz can poured into a tulip. Pours golden with a subtle haze; fluffy eggshell white head that slowly falls leaving great thick retention and sticky lacing. The aromas are on the mild and subtle side with some hints of citrus and malts. The flavors have nice hop flavors with a solid bitterness. Hints of grapefruit, lemon, orange and pine. Some fresh grass and pine needles in the mix. Malts do their thing. Alcohol basically goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is nice. It's medium-bodied with moderate to active carbonation. It's very fluffy and slightly creamy. It's smooth and easy to drink.

This is a pretty solid IPA. It might not be anything super crazy, but it's bold and well crafted. It's enjoyable stuff. I like it.
