I heard about this place a few months before it opened and I had wanted to visit ever since. A world class beer bar with a michelin quality restaurant in the back? You better believe I am in on that. Atmosphere was awesome. Tons of people enjoying themselves, beautiful bar and decor to match. Quality is one of the highest I have come across. Their draft system is state of the art, their build quality is amazing and their food is some of the best in the city. Service was a touch hit or miss. When they came around it was top notch but I was left with an empty glass for a bit longer than I should have been for sitting at the middle of the bar. Selection was pretty good on our visit. They obviously had plenty of Evil Twin but they also had some killer Belgian's that I had never seen before. If you include the back restaurant I am not sure how you can't say the food is world class. If you don't then it is adequate but nothing over the top. I got the bread and butter and while it was awesome I am not sure I really got my money's worth. Prices were high across the board, even more so than the better Manhattan bars. Overall this is easily one of the best beer bars I have ever come across. I look forward to visiting again the next time I am in the area.

go at off hours when you can sit at the bar and chat, and take time with the menu and work your way through it. i particularly like how the tap handles are colorized according to roast. you can have 3% and 12%+ beers here, in 3 different pours for the most part. yes the beer is expensive. a lot of griping about that in the reviews here. if you're going to a beer bar to find good stuff, it won't be surprising to you and is the same as the other bars of its ilk in NYC.

rotating selection of harder to find European stuff each time I've gone that the bartender has kindly educated me on. i've never had an issue with the bartenders. They celebrate good beer (Evil Twin and far beyond), and that's what you're going to get if you order something.

One of the absolute coolest bars I've ever been to, with a great vibe, great clientele and fantastic beer selection. I completely dug the Stanley Kubrick vibe going on and had an amazing time meeting people from all of the globe and drinking some of the best beers I've ever had. If you're in the Five Boroughs you absolutely must make a stop into this bar.

The selection here is always phenomenal. Can't go wrong there. Nice vibe to the place and it does feel very European.

Where Torst loses me a bit is on price. This place is so damn expensive. Even in an expensive city, the price for the pours is ridiculous, especially when some of these pours are like $12 for four ounces.

Having said that, this is a good place to visit about once a year and splurge. One day I might really splurge and eat at the Michelin-starred restaurant in the back.

It's certainly a beer bar in Brooklyn. Where the hip meet up with the snobs to outdo each other in douchery. This is THE place for any beer snob to be seen, taking carefully staged beer photos for their blogs, while their friends twirl their mustaches and "check-in" a beer on the latest app.

If you can get past all of that, and are able to decipher the writing on the gaudy mirrored "menu", then you'll see that this place has one hell of a tap list. A wide array of Evil Twin (obviously), some great NE beers, along with outstanding European beers... this place really covers the spread.

Staff was very knowledgeable, albeit a bit smug. I see where some people would be turned off by a few staff members "attitudes". I, on the other hand, had some great conversation with 2 of the bartenders, and found them to be most pleasant once they took down their beer elitist wall.

Food? Well, it's amazing. You probably don't need me to tell you that.

Prices? Steep. That's certainly true. Buuuut, it's a destination beer spot, in Brooklyn, so I wasn't too surprised. I was happy when I left, and that's truly all that matters.

There on Friday afternoon, so was not crowded. Very open space, Spartan decor. Bar seats maybe 10 and a half dozen bench like tables. Excellent craft selection. a bit on the pricey side.

Amazing place. Amazing chef and amazing beer selection. This is pretty much a given considering the owners. But if you find yourself in NYC and love food and beer, this place is a must!

A bit in the middle of nowhere and from the outside, without prior knowledge, I doubt you would guess it to be a pretty killer craft beer bar.

The general bar area is a mix of dated wood with a very modern and slick bar. My friends and I were there on an early Saturday afternoon so it was not crowded at all. A very laid back atmosphere and the servers were pretty prompt and friendly.

The really only reason we went was of course for their tap menu. They really feature some top notch brews. All pours are served in oversized wine glasses with a modern graphic. We didn't have any of the food option but the options were mostly artisanal appetizer type.

Overall, a pretty cool little craft beer bar. I'm not about to run back or declare it my favorite spot but if the menu is good I wouldn't hesitate for another visit.
