Tasting notes from 03/23/17
Had on-tap @ Final Gravity in Roseville, CA

Appearance - Served in a 11.5oz snifter, clear and deep ruby in color with a thin ring of suds around the edge. No lacing, but none expected.

Smell - Aroma hits on tart red fruit and oak, with a whiff of caramel and a hint of booze.

Taste - Follows the nose. Jammy and tart with oak and oddly fitting caramel flavor that rides beneath. Some astringent booziness hits in the finish, but the aftertaste is mostly tart and acidic.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with low, tingly carbonation. Dry, wine like finish.

Overall - The Barleywine character clashes with the deep zin fruitiness a bit, but it's not completely undrinkable. Having said that, it is underwhelming and definitely a step in the wrong direction when compared to the original Morning Wood variant.
