pours a dark chocolate brown with a frothy tan head
roasted malt to the nose with a hint of chocolate sweetness
crisp yet chocolaty taste with lots of roasted malt ... fruity overtones
surprisingly dry mouth feel. the sweet fruitiness lingers slightly
pleasantly surprised ... this brewery is located less than 10 miles from my house and based solely on this beer alone I'm planning to visit soon

On tap at Iron Horse Tavern
A: Pours chestnut brown with a slight ruby tinge, a frothy tan head settles to a light layer and leaves some nice lacing.
S: Toasted and roasted malt, hints of coffee and chocolate, earthy, floral, faintly fruity, and a touch of toffee sweetness.
T: Smooth roasty toasty malt, hints of coffee and chocolate, floral and slightly fruity hops, earthy, and a touch of toffee sweetness.
M: Medium body, moderate carbonation, dry finish.
O: Exactly what I needed on a rainy night. Plenty of flavor and very drinkable. Pretty much spot on brown ale.

Pours an almost opaque brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of roasted malt, cocoa powder, milk chocolate, and vanilla aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa powder, chocolate syrup, vanilla bean, and char flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with great chocolate and vanilla characteristics all around.

Somewhere between brown ale and a porter to me. It is dry tasting as well which is interesting, and has some moderate hop bitterness. Very nice

Poured from a bomber into a shaker pint, the beer is a very dark, vibrant, brown coloring with mahogany highlights and a thin, filmy, sparse, light tan colored head. Aromas of hazelnut, subtle roasted notes, toffee, caramel, vanilla, crème, and subtle bitterness. Very balanced and smooth nose. Flavors are very roasted and sweet forward, with a blast of hazelnut, ribbons of chocolate, subtle vanilla highlights, and hints of coffee and smoke. This is a palate pounder of a malt bomb. Good, smooth flavors on a light, slightly dry, crisp body. The aftertaste leans towards cloying sweetness, but with enough of a bitter edge to keep it teetering on balance. Lingering roast notes are also present in the end. The finish is slick and clean, with a lingering bitterness that outlasts the fading sweet notes. This is bigger than most Browns, and damn tasty.

Pours a finger of tight head that slowly settles. Liquid is brilliant ruby brown - gorgeous beer (perhaps dark for the style). Smells tame overall. Mildly of chocolate and grassy hops. Was expecting more in the way of malt and hop aroma from an American Brown Ale.
Tastes tame and disjointed. Hop bitter is moderate and rules over the hop flavor and the malt flavors. Hop flavors are grassy and mild pine. Malt is more roast than chocolate and lacking any kind of nut character. Astringent drying finish from high attenuation and too much dark grain. Modest carbonation and low drinkability.
