750ML bottle from what is quietly a very good Twin Cities brewery. Split with my wife watching Tom Brady prove that age is only a number. For him, not me. I feel every year.

Pour is black with a head that sticks around longer than any barrel aged beer I stick in my wife’s drawer. Nose is rich bourbon, vanilla, sweetness. Classic.

Calamity is like a classic hit, like Where the Streets Have No Name or Wham! Rap. Bourbon leads with its helmet followed by a deep, lush sweetness, vaniller, wood, with a finishing slap of spiciness from the rye barrels. I love rye barrels. Rich & full. I could do more of this.

Breweries have forgotten that every barrel aged stout doesn’t *require* coconut, vanilla, apples, & the scent of jasmine roasted over an open fire. Sometimes just straightforward execution leads to an excellent brew.
