On tap at Wvrst in Toronto. Mahogany brown with a beige frothy head that lingers long and leaves big sheets of lace all around the insides of the glass. Low aroma of nutty malt. Rich layers and textures of flavors, from cocoa to smoke and leather and root beer, nutty toasty malt, chestnut, very well-balanced and even. Moderate mouthfeel, a bit thinner than I'd prefer, but that's about the only criticism that I have to dig deep for. This is an amazing porter. Find it, drink it early and often, love it, respect it.

At the brewpub. Coffee on the nose when it warms. Dark brown with small head. Good coffee finish.

Bottle: Poured a medium brown color porter with a large light brown foamy head with some retention and some lacing. Aroma of floral coffee notes with some roasted malt notes is quite pleasant. Taste is a nice mix of floral coffee with no astringency and some light roasted malt notes with light lactose notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Tasty porter with nice coffee profile and good drinkability.

Very tasty and well done coffee porter. What I particularly like is there is a bit of the "earthy" tones of coffee that a lot of coffee porters lack (almost like they are using coffee flavoring vs the real thing).

Good beer but pricey was just shy of $7 for a 650mL at the LCBO. Versus say 7.95 for a 750 of chimay premier. Its a very solid craft beer but is it trappist level? I wouldn't go that far. But if you are looking for something in the porter style this is a very solid pick.

Got this one in a trade and what a surprise it was!

Pours a dark brown with a nice mocha head. Very nice presence of coffee and a really well balanced brew. A bit thin but this makes it go down so smoothly. Impressed and would have it again!

650 ml bomber served into a tulip. Bottling date of August 15, 2017. Purchased from the LCBO for $7.95 CDN.

Appearance - Pours a very dark brown, near black color that has reddish hues in direct light. A fine finger of light tan head sits on top and recedes slowly. Some little bits of lacing cling to the glass with all its strength.

Smell - Plenty of coffee, with wet used coffee grounds being the aroma. Plenty of roastiness here, a conglomeration of ash, tobacco and leather as well as coffee. Subtle bit of vanilla mixed in.

Taste - Lots of coffee here, roastiness as in the nose is prominent but coffee plays bigger role. A little ash and tobacco with bits of vanilla coming through too. There's a caramel malt in the background that keeps this well balanced.

Mouthfeel Medium -light bodied, drying finish, lots of carbonation. Astringency on the tip of my tongue at the end of each sip.

Overall - A very good porter that could maybe use just a touch less carbonation to make it really, really good. Still very good although the price is on the steep side. Worth a try.

Damned the Ontario government for not allowing Peche Mortel into the province. I think of this, every time I have some other coffee porter. Here is Bricks and Mortar for example. It smells like coffee, it tastes like coffee but nowhere near the way Dieu Du Ciel makes a beer out of it. It's a watered down version. No, it's not bad, and if there were no Peche, I would think it's decent but I can't unknow what I know.
And maybe it's not even Left Field's fault. Maybe the rules have them by the balls and this is all they are allowed to do with coffee.
Anyway, a nice nose, a good retention and the taste is decent. I recommend that you try it. Just don't expect a home run.

Got this one from hopsolutely. Thanks guys!

From a bomber into a pint glass.

APPEARANCE: Pours out clear brown and yields a two finger, medium looking, creamy, light brown head with great retention. Head fades to a full foamy cap while clinging to the glass. A splotchy wisp remains until the end leaving some decent lacing down the glass as it empties.

SMELL: Coffee, dark malts, lightly roasted notes and a hint of milk chocolate.

TASTE: Roasted coffee, milk chocolate notes and toffee sweetness up front. A bolder finish of roasted coffee beans, milk chocolate, hints of cream and plenty of bitterness lingering on the palate,

PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Enough weight and creamy enough too, goes down fine and finish a touch dry. Some bitterness lingers.

OVERALL: Good stuff. Flavorful and a good feel to support it. This was an enjoyable brew and is well worth checking out if you get the chance. Thanks again, guys!
