At the brewery. And the culmination of an incredible week-long coast-to-coast road trip! As good as I expected. Super creamy smooth, full hop flavor, with a bit of spice from the rye. Just as good as I remember them!

Pale yellow and cloudy with a half finger of head.

Smells of canned peaches and pineapple.

Tastes of peaches and caramel. It has a nice malt backbone as well.

Light body and light carbonation.

Decent apa. Enjoying it at the tasting room in alpine. June 1, 2019.

Had a little taster of this at the Alpine tasting room. Gotta be one of my favs!

L: Light gold. Decent lacing, slight bubbling, clear. Looks good to me!
S: Fruity and spicy aroma. Smells like Nelson! Alpine beers always smell amazing.
T: This has got to be one of the best IPA's I've ever had. The rye malt doesn't add a malty taste, just spice which compliments the immense amount of hops in this beer. The wine-like Nelson hops combined with the rye and the traditional hops are amazing. Maybe I'm biased since I love Nelson hops.
F: Standard IPA feel. Nothing super unique, but it's not a bad thing! Smooth all around, lingers long after the finish.
O: If you like Alpine Nelson (who doesn't!), this is basically the younger brother. Total hop bomb, very delicious. Another homerun from Alpine!

Obviously a must if you dig Nelson/Keene, as well as if you dig low ABV beer. Check to both here. Pale gold, light haze, minimal head, not especially impressive looking, but the nose gets thing going, light Nelson hightlights, that herbaceous/zingy fruit thing seeping in, then really fully expressing itself on the palate, layers of flavor in a light package like this is excellent. Rye seems to give it just enough body and intrigue re: the malt. Tasty stuff.

Type: 64-oz. growler
Glass: Figueroa Mountain pint glass
From: Alpine Beer Company in Alpine, Calif.
Price: $12.82
Purchased: Aug. 5, 2015
Consumed: Aug. 5, 2015
Misc.: N/A

Poured a golden, pale, clear color with two fingers of frothy, white head. A few noticeable bubble marks coming up from the bottom of the glass. Average amount of uneven, foamy lacing on the sides of the glass. Above average retention on the top all the way down. (Sight - 3.75)

Smelled a pleasant whiff of sharp red grapefruit, Citra, Amarillo, resin, tangerine, floral, tropical, mango, pineapple, spicy Simcoe and caramel. Reminding me a lot of a Duet or a Keene Idea. (Smell - 4.50)

Taste followed the nose, although not quite as potent. Definitely an Alpine beer, reminding me of some Keene Idea, Duet, San Diego Surprise and Nelson. Got Citra, Amarillo, floral, grapefruit, tangerine rind, rye, light resin, orange zest, tropical, pineapple, caramel and buttery malts. (Taste - 4.25)

Light body. Thin-to-oily texture. Average carbonation. Long, floral finish. (Feel - 4.00)

This was an awesome session IPA, definitely the best one I’ve ever had. Great for August and very good for any time. Loved it. (Overall - 4.25)

It's a great session IPA. Watery diluted finish. Wouldn't go crazy for it but alright
