Style: American Double / Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 11.00%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
This Hop Monster uses multiple kettle hop additions with the technique of doubling the hop amount each addition (exponentially). Add in the hop back and the continuous dry hopping and your starting to get the picture. The beer is finished off with a "body-bag" sized hop-bag full of hop cones and oak chips. There it ages and mellows, disguising the alcohol content for a double strong, incredibly hoppy, yet drinkable beer.

A glass tasted during Dark Lord Day.

A: The ale is a hazy amber orange color. The travel and open growler have done their number on the carbonation, giving the ale little in the way of head.

S: The nose is a citrusy bitterness, full of grapefruit and pine aromas but not as intense as I expected from a beer called 'Exponential Hoppiness'.

T: The taste does not skimp on the hops, they are bitter with a strong citrusy grapefruit flavor. As the ale sits in the mouth, a huge, intensely bitter hop element quickly emerges, providing astringent grapefruit flavors built on pineapple and pine flavors, creating a thick mouthfeel that burns with hop deliciousness.

M: The mouthfeel begins on an average note and quickly escalates into an all-out hop assault.

D: The 1/2 glass that I had was very enjoyable, full of big hops and quite drinkable even with the hefty abv.
