BEER INFO

Brewed by:

Style: American Double / Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 11.00%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
This Hop Monster uses multiple kettle hop additions with the technique of doubling the hop amount each addition (exponentially). Add in the hop back and the continuous dry hopping and your starting to get the picture. The beer is finished off with a "body-bag" sized hop-bag full of hop cones and oak chips. There it ages and mellows, disguising the alcohol content for a double strong, incredibly hoppy, yet drinkable beer.

Before everyone was dropping orange ipas all over the globe, this was a triple ipa that still kicked down those familiar yellow tones. Mild 1/3" white head. Aroma was a lot of everything, sweet and hoppy, leaning a sweet citrus instead of the usual just massive grapefruit bitterness. Still crushes some tropical fruit notes in the nose too. Mango.

Taste is in that Pliny the Younger vein. 11% is hid very well, seems like they added sugar to dry out the body, hoppy, bitter, lush with green hop tones, still hittin the sticky dank fruit notes. Does it so well. Pricey compared to some other similar options, and also harder to get. So it is more available than Pliny, but also way harder to get than Boneyard Notorious or Lagunitas Waldo. But its in that mold. Excellent stuff, maybe we'll get lucky and they'll put it in 4 or 6 packs someday with the new Green Flash* model of Alpine ownership.

They list it on here as a Double IPA, but at 11% this is clearly more than that. But it drinks smooth and has a gorgeous hue about it that I could stare at all day. Very drinkable for the abv, but the booziness flavor did drown out the hops a little more than I would have liked.

Ive had the pleasure of having this beer a few times. Great taste. Strong but feels smooth like a single. Awesome west coast hop taste. I love the hop taste this beer gives my taste buds.
