Pours a nice clear golden color. Has a light hoppy aroma with a citrusy backbone. Flavor is mild citrus hops that quickly smooths to a lightly sweet finish. Leaves a very light bitter citrus hop aftertaste. A little bit light overall for my liking but still very good

A- Pours a clear and bright medium golden in color. The body of the beer almost glows in the glass. A decent sized, two finger head forms and retains very well, lacing very well as well. Lots of carbonation that is continuously rising.

S- Moderate to strong hops up front on the nose, with the amarillo and simcoe showing off their strong floral and pine notes. The scent has just a touch of the malts in the base of the beer to counter the hops bitterness and balance the scent overall.

T- Starts off with the punch of the hops, but they are somewhat subdued when compared to the scent. The bitterness ramps up a bit form the initial taste towards the middle of the drink and moves towards a more pine-forward flavor. At the back end of the drink, the hops turn more resin-y before the malts of the beer kick in and balance with the slightest touch of sweetness. Lingering flavor is a mild bitterness of the hops.

M- This beer hits the tongue with a decent punch of carbonation and a fairly thick body rolling across the tongue. The drink is very smooth as it goes down and there is no noticeable alcohol content. In summary, this beer drinks as an IPA should.

Overall, if you are looking for the quintessential west coast IPA that both displays a good dose of hops and a decent amount of balance, this could be your prescription. It is easy to drink and pretty bitter without being off putting or one dimensional. I like this beer.

22oz bomber poured into tulip glass:

Look: Beautiful orange/golden color with about a half inch of head with lacing present

Smell: Loads of hops and citrus along with some hints of grapefruit and pine

Taste: Hoppy deliciousness but malty as well to not make this beer overly bitter. Hints of grapefruit and pine also. Very tasty beverage that is going down very smooth.

Feel: Medium body

Overall: This is a mighty fine west coast IPA that just became available in Pittsburgh PA market not long ago. Hoppy but not overly bitter due to some malt backbone. Love the hints of grapefruit in this. This is my first beer ever from Alpine and it is worthy of every bit of its rating. Wish I had bought more than this one bomber. Also hoping to get my hands on some Hoppy Birthday.
