On draught at Frontier Brewing Company and Taproom.

A very slightly hazed straw gold, ample head of foam that leaves lacing behind.

Smells of pine, almost needle like, somewhat dank, also smells resinous.

Tastes either dry hopped, hop oils used, or both. My tongue sure feels like hop oily after every sip. Piney, dank to a point, bit of cracker malt in the background.

Smooth mouthfeel, again my tongue seems to be coated with that hoppy goodness and the abv is very out of the way.

Very nice collaboration.

6x9 pours perfectly clear and deep gold with a foamy white head. Moderate lacing.

Dank weed with hints of lime and tropical fruit fill the nose.

The taste follows with a powdered sugar maltiness.

The feel us light and crisp, balanced and smooth, and favoring bitterness but not intensely.

Overall, even being brewed at Alpine, this one clearly shows Melvin dominance. And that is perfectly fine. Regardless, I would have loved a much more in your face bitterness to back up all that dank presence. Cheers!

Misc.: Collab between Alpine and Melvin

Had heard of this collab between two of my favorite hoppy breweries - Alpine and Melvin - and finally made it to Alpine to try it. The description I saw for it had the hops being CTZ, Amarillo and El Dorado. This was going to be a rather quick review.

Poured a straw clear color with 1-to-2 fingers of frothy white head. Slow moving bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. World-class foamy spiderweb lacing. World-class retention. (Sight - 4.50)

Smelled resin, El Dorado, Zeus, skunk, tangerine rind, grass, herbal and stone fruit. (Smell - 3.75)

Tasted El Dorado, dank skunky resin, herbal, earthy grass, stone fruit and spice (guessing Amarillo). (Taste - 3.75)

Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt dank finish. (Feel - 3.75)

This was a very good American IPA, although not as good as I hoped with these two powerhouse breweries (Overall - 3.75)

Draft at Bar Gernika. Bright golden, one finger fluffy head. Full citrus hoppy aroma. Taste too, big citrus hops, not too bitter. Crisp. Great showcase for the hops. I knew these two could knock it out if the park.
